Candidate’s ability to work cross-functionally means assignments may include all aspects of Process Safety: Providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline. Ability to perform HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required, and qualitative and quantitative risk assessment, including hazard identification, accidental release scenario development, consequence modelling (dispersion, fire, explosion), frequency analysis (including Event Tree and Fault Tree analysis), presentation of risk results, and report preparation. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Technical Safety studies methodologies, software modelling, and report review of different phases of safety studies as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participating in project Risk Assessment Studies HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, PHSER and other safety workshops when required.
  • Lead the team for Successful Completion of HSEIA Process.
  • Perform responsibility of a Lead engineer on project/proposal, review contract requirements, plan and organize the project documents delivery.
  • Review & Interpret P&ID, HMB, Plant layout, operating procedure, Documentation & Drawing.
  • Participation in multidiscipline Design projects and workshops.
  • Fire-Water Demand Calculations.
  • Fire & Gas detection layouts.
  • Cause & Effect for fire detection & suppression system.
  • Preparation of Safety equipment layout.
  • Prepare specification for safety equipment.
  • Performing and reviewing Safety case, HSEIA and Design HSE Case.
  • Performing and reviewing the FERA, QRA, EERA, ESSA and Performance standards reports.
  • Escape, Evacuation, Rescue and Recovery Assessments.
  • Perform design reviews/verifications.
  • Good Experience in Facilitating/chairing HAZOP/PHA/LOPA/HAZID/SIL/ALARP/PHSER workshops – both short and long duration.
  • Delivering training and developing training materials for HAZOP/PHA/HAZID/SIL.
  • Knowledge of SIMOPS, MOPO, Constructability Review - Desirable.
  • Performing Hazardous Area assessment.
  • SIL verification/validation.
  • Taking lead role for the project, proposals, managing the clients and other interface meetings required by the client.
  • Supporting Juniors in technical safety studies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant.
  • Minimum 15+ years in Technical Safety & Risk experience in EPC for Oil & Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of the ADNOC, SABIC, Saudi Aramco, QE standard requirement for the Process safety and Risk management - Desirable.
  • Prior Experience in Hydrocarbon Industry (Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical industry / Heavy Chemical / Fertilizer Plants).
  • Knowledge of the refinery process, plant equipment and process control.
  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting P&ID and PFD (Mandatory).
  • Knowledge in Process Safety Studies like CFD, RAM and Dropped Object studies is an added advantage.
  • Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the process discipline in the same or similar industry, including experience managing and leading multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
