We do big things with a small (but growing) team. At Apatura, we develop projects that power clean energy and a thriving digital world — from battery storage to data centres. It’s complex, high impact work, delivered by a small, highly capable team who move quickly and care deeply about doing things well. We’re driven by bold ideas, a strong sense of purpose and a willingness to challenge how things are usually done. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a proactive Senior EIA Manager to lead environmental delivery and drive sustainable outcomes across our energy and data centre projects. With a growing pipeline of projects and clear plans to expand the business, this role offers the chance to play a key part in supporting Apatura’s next stage of growth.

About the role

The Senior EIA Manager will play a lead role in overseeing environmental work across Apatura’s energy and data centre projects. Working closely with our external consultants, the role will coordinate, review and guide all environmental reporting, including formal Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). The focus of the role is to help embed sustainable design and deliver positive environmental outcomes across our developments, while also contributing to and influencing Apatura’s wider ESG policy and strategy.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead consultant teams in the management of the EIA process, including screening, scoping, and the production of EIA Reports, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Lead colleagues, environmental specialists, development partners and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
  • Perform technical reviews of specialist chapters / standalone reports (e.g., ecology, noise, air quality) and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Support projects from origination to post-consent, including input into budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., SEPA, NatureScot), consultants, and project teams.

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong understanding of Scottish and UK environmental and planning legislation, particularly as it applies to energy projects and consenting.
  • Significant experience in EIA consultancy, including coordinating and delivering complex Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Confidence working within multi‑disciplinary teams, with the ability to manage your own workload with limited supervision.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with an appreciation of commercial, risk, forecasting and quality assurance considerations.
  • A proactive, solution‑orientated mindset, focused on helping projects progress responsibly and sustainably.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear, high‑quality report writing and attention to detail.
  • A relevant degree in an environmental discipline (EIA or similar).
  • Chartered Environmentalist status, or demonstrable progress towards chartership, with full membership of IEMA or a similar professional body.

What we offer:

  • Private medical care with Bupa (household included)
  • Enhanced pension scheme
  • EV salary sacrifice scheme + cycle-to-work scheme
  • 30 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays to start, increasing with length of service, plus additional leave over the Christmas period
  • Access to free, confidential counselling and other wellbeing resources through our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Life assurance scheme at 6x salary

The details:

  • Full-time, permanent role
  • Based in Edinburgh
  • Hybrid working (3 days in the office)
