We’re doing exciting things, with our highly specialist team
At Apatura, we develop projects that power clean energy and a thriving digital world — from battery storage to data centres.
It’s complex, high-impact work, delivered by a highly capable team who move quickly and care deeply about doing things well.
We’re driven by bold ideas, a strong sense of purpose and a willingness to challenge how things are usually done.
With a growing pipeline of projects and ambitious plans to expand the business, this role offers the chance to play a key part in supporting Apatura’s next stage of growth.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the development of renewable energy projects, primarily BESS and data centres, from early-stage development through to construction readiness.
You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage key stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and ready for investment and construction.
Some key responsibilities include
- Lead the development and delivery of renewable energy projects (primarily BESS and LDES) from site identification through planning, investment approval, and handover at Ready to Build (Rt B).
- Manage multidisciplinary project workstreams, including planning, grid connections, engineering, land, and legal activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and aligned with commercial objectives.
- Develop and refine site layouts and planning strategies, supporting planning applications through submission, determination, and pre-construction design stages.
- Oversee landowner engagement and negotiations, working closely with land and legal teams to secure site and access agreements.
- Assess grid connection opportunities and technical solutions, ensuring projects are commercially viable, technically deliverable, and investment ready.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, managing scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and key milestones throughout the development lifecycle.
- Lead and motivate project teams and external partners, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture and driving delivery excellence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with planning authorities, statutory consultees, local stakeholders, and community groups to support successful project outcomes.
- Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project risks while maintaining high standards of quality, governance, and compliance across all activities.
- Provide clear and timely reporting to senior stakeholders, ensuring robust project documentation, effective decision-making, and continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice sharing.
- What we’re looking for
- Proven experience leading complex projects through the full development lifecycle, ideally within the renewable energy, BESS, infrastructure, or related sectors.
- Leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and drive successful project outcomes.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and prioritisation abilities, with a proactive and delivery-focused approach.
- Commercially astute, with experience balancing risk, cost, programme, and quality considerations.
- Good understanding of planning, consenting, technical, environmental, and commercial project workstreams.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, governance, and controls within complex project environments.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering projects from early-stage development through to construction handover.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline is desirable.
- Project management accreditation (e. g. APM, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent) would be advantageous.
What we offer
- Private medical care with Bupa (household included)
- Enhanced pension scheme
- EV salary sacrifice scheme + cycle-to-work scheme
- 30 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays to start, increasing with length of service, plus additional leave over the Christmas period
- Access to free, confidential counselling and other wellbeing resources through our Employee Assistance Programme
