Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join their growing Professional Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working directly with clients, and delivering modern IT solutions across cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security environments.

This is a hands-on role where you will manage projects from initial technical discovery and solution design through to implementation, documentation, and successful handover into support. You'll be trusted to manage your own workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, and build strong relationships with clients while delivering exceptional technical outcomes.

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a wide range of IT projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard. You'll work closely with clients, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and support teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple client projects simultaneously from inception to completion.
  • Supporting pre-sales activities, technical discovery workshops, and requirements gathering.
  • Designing, implementing, and documenting infrastructure, cloud, networking, and security solutions.
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
  • Producing clear technical documentation and handover materials.
  • Providing project updates and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identifying and escalating risks, blockers, and out-of-scope requests where appropriate.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota when required.

Technical Responsibilities

You will be involved in delivering a broad range of technologies and solutions, including:

  • Microsoft Cloud & Modern Workplace
    • Microsoft 365 design, deployment, and administration.
    • Microsoft Azure services and cloud infrastructure projects.
    • Microsoft Intune deployment and device management.
    • SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange Online.
    • Identity and access management using Entra ID.
    • Cloud migration and modern workplace transformation projects.
  • Infrastructure & Server Technologies
    • Windows Server deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services.
    • Hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
    • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
    • Infrastructure consolidation and modernisation projects.
  • Networking & Security
    • Network design, deployment, and documentation.
    • SonicWall firewall configuration and management.
    • VPNs, routing, NAT, firewall policies, and security controls.
    • UniFi switching and wireless deployments.
    • VLANs, network segmentation, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi design.
    • Security-focused infrastructure implementation and troubleshooting.

  • Proven experience delivering IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud, networking, and security projects.
  • Strong project ownership and self-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and technical reporting capabilities.
  • Commercial awareness around project scope, budgets, timelines, and risk.
  • Confidence working directly with clients both remotely and on-site.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer locations.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours support rota when required.
