This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled and proactive IT professional to join a school environment for an initial one-month period, ensuring the smooth running of IT systems and providing essential technical support to staff and pupils.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the school’s IT infrastructure, resolving technical issues, supporting users and ensuring that systems remain secure, reliable and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day IT support to staff and pupils, resolving hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
- Maintain and support the school’s IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, data centre services, WAN connectivity, VoIP telephony, email systems and network services.
- Support and maintain CCTV, door entry, visitor sign-in, photocopying and printing systems
- Investigate significant technical incidents, identify root causes and document findings.
- Maintain IT security, prevent unauthorised access and ensure the safe handling, storage and disposal of confidential information.
- Support the effective operation of the school’s cashless catering system and student registration processes.
- Prepare, maintain and configure IT resources and audio-visual equipment for presentations, assemblies and other school activities.
- Liaise with relevant technical teams and third-party providers to ensure the effective delivery of IT services.
- Follow all school safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in an IT support or IT infrastructure role.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Experience supporting Microsoft environments, including Active Directory, networking and user account administration.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, including switches, routers and connectivity.
- Experience supporting a range of business IT systems, hardware, software and peripheral equipment.
- A strong understanding of IT security, data protection and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and respond effectively to changing demands.
- A professional, flexible and reliable approach, with the ability to make an immediate contribution in a temporary role.
Previous experience working within a school or educational setting would be advantageous, particularly if you have a current and valid Enhanced CRB. An understanding of safeguarding requirements and the importance of protecting children’s welfare is essential.
This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise in a rewarding educational environment, helping staff and pupils access the IT resources they need to support teaching, learning and the day-to-day running of the school.
