Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience salary range £32,000 to £42,000 plus bonus. 35 hour working week.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Accountant to join our growing public practice team. This role is ideal for a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or an experienced professional who is qualified by experience (QBE). Fluency in Welsh is essential, as you will be working closely with a diverse client base, including Welsh-speaking individuals and businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as their primary point of contact
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Personal and corporate tax compliance
  • Assisting clients with bookkeeping, cloud accounting software, and general financial advice
  • Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Supporting junior staff where appropriate

Requirements

  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA) or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • Fluent Welsh speaker (written and spoken) – essential
  • 5 years experience within a UK public practice environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Iris)
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with cloud-based accounting solutions
  • Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
  • Payroll experience (advantageous but not essential)
