Can you play this critical role verifying dimensional accuracy throughout our fabrication and assembly process? We're looking for a surveyor to work closely with our Fabrication and Quality teams to make sure that our projects meet design tolerances and the highest of standards.
As a heavy fabrication specialist serving the marine sector, we deliver complex, high-precision structures within shipbuilding and repair.
With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can build units for vessels, and we have the space to join them together. Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where your projects will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas.
As we continue to grow, we are building our skilled team to support the accuracy, quality, and reliability of our fabrication projects. Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.
So what will you do?
- Using 3D Trackers / Spatial Analyser and / or Total Stations you'll perform dimensional control surveys on fabricated structures, modules, and assemblies.
- You'll interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and fabrication specifications.
- Producing clear, accurate survey reports you'll include dimensional deviation analysis, and as-built documentation.
- You'll support fabrication with alignment, fit-up, and quality-critical measurement tasks.
- Collaborating with engineering you'll validate tolerances and help to resolve dimensional issues.
- You will maintain and calibrate survey equipment making sure that you follow best practice in your measurement methodology.
- Develop and issue of dimensional control reports using Spatial Analyzer.
And what are we looking for?
- Experience as a Dimensional Control Surveyor, ideally in heavy fabrication, marine or shipbuilding.
- Proficiency with surveying equipment and the ability to understand equipment that you have not yet used eg 3D Trackers / Spatial Analyser and / or Total Stations.
- Strong understanding of geometric tolerancing, fabrication methods, and engineering drawings.
- Ability to interpret 3D models.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills as well as the ability to pay high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Relevant qualifications in engineering, surveying, or a related field.
