Working in our materials processing department, we are looking for someone to disseminate project DXF data, review against drawings, and compile nesting sheets for CNC profiling.

Who are A&P Tyne?
With the largest dry dock on the East Coast as well as a 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, we integrate engineering and production teams to work collaboratively. We offer comprehensive marine engineering capabilities, including 2 dry docks capable of accommodating a variety of vessel sizes, alongside berthing with ample space for repair and maintenance works, a fabrication shed featuring a panel line and we have a machining shop. We have a high bay construction hall, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas. As we continue to grow, we are building our skilled team to support the accuracy, quality, and reliability of our projects. Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.
So what will you do?
- You will work closely with engineers and project managers to understand design specifications and project requirements.
- You will produce steel material / plate / section quantity estimates (Material Take Off, MTO) for estimating new projects, to aid the estimating department.
- You will use the CNC nesting program to produce production cutting nests of project parts, by plate thickness for both CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting beds.
- You will review profile DXF files against drawings to ensure all cutting data is accurate including weld preps.
- You will amend profile DXF data where required to build in shrinkage allowances through design reviews with Projects, Production and Quality.
- Considering stock control, traceability and audit purposes, you will record all steel plate details using Excel spreadsheets and nesting sheets.
- Working with Project teams you will determine cutting priorities.

- Someone time served in fabrication with strong engineering drawing reading skills.
- Proficiency in using nesting software (ideally Columbus V2).
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and a solid understanding of engineering and design principles.
- Great communication skills for collaboration with diverse project teams.
- Problem-solving abilities that will enable you to address design challenges.
