We operate within a high-risk environment, so part of our commitment to excellence and safety means that we are looking for another HSE Officer. You will support and maintain our team's awareness of the Health and Safety risks that we need to manage. As we continue to grow, we are building our skilled team to support our projects using in-house capabilities that maintain tight project control by working closely with our customers to deliver what they need safely.
With the largest dry dock on the East Coast as well as a 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, we integrate engineering and production teams to work collaboratively. We offer comprehensive marine engineering capabilities, including dry docks capable of accommodating a variety of vessel sizes, alongside berthing with ample space for repair and maintenance works, a fabrication shed featuring a panel line, and we have a machining shop. We have a high bay construction hall, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas. A&P's number one priority is to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers, and sub-contractors. What will you do?
- It's a varied role where you'll work across all safety principles and standards within heavy industry, ensuring that through our safety culture process programme, we all return home safe and healthy at the end of every working day.
- You'll monitor conformance with health, safety & environmental regulations as well as A&P procedures.
- Reporting and recording what you monitor, you'll also carry out investigations, reporting, and recommend action on accidents, incidents, near misses, and non-conformances to drive positive change and improvements.
- As part of our shared values with a focus on responsibility and sustainability practices, you will carry out and assist others with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- You'll provide advice on health, safety, environmental, and quality matters to line management and the wider team.
- As projects progress, you'll review project requirements and the impact on advice you give while maintaining legislation in a professional, competent manner with colleagues, customers, and contractors.
- This role involves working overtime that can run into evenings and weekends for which you will be compensated.
What are we looking for?
- You need to be a time-served HSE professional or may have industry experience and have made the move into HSE.
- If you've experienced Confined Space Gas testing, that would be a bonus.
- Marine and/or Fabrication experience will give you a realistic understanding of what is needed in this type of environment along with emergency response preparedness.
- You'll need a NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of best practice within HSEQ is needed, gained from working within an HSE function.
- Experience in Permit to work coordination and writing is essential; you'll be doing that from your first week.
- Accident and incident investigation experience, including using integrated management systems.
- Experience in LOTO procedures and understanding why they matter is essential.
- If you can audit to ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001, that would be valued but it's not essential.
