Make a difference where it matters most. At AP Education, we deliver personalised education for young people who are unable to attend mainstream school. Working closely with schools, local authorities, and families, we provide flexible, learner-centred support that helps young people re-engage, rebuild confidence, and achieve meaningful outcomes.

We are looking for qualified and licensed Thrive Practitioners to join us on a contractual basis to carry out Thrive assessments for learners across our Alternative Provision placements. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your expertise to shape the emotional wellbeing and development of children and young people with SEND, SEMH, and EBSA needs.

About the Role:

  • Complete initial and termly Thrive assessments to identify each learner's social and emotional developmental stage.
  • Plot progress across areas such as emotional regulation, resilience, self-esteem, and relationships.
  • Produce clear, action-focused reports and recommended strategies to guide tutors, families, and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with our Education Delivery Coordinators (EDCos) to ensure assessment outcomes are embedded into each learner's Individualised Learning Plan (ILP).
  • Ensure the learner's voice and family input remain central throughout the process.
  • Uphold safeguarding best practice at every stage.

What We're Looking For:

  • A current, valid Thrive Licensed Practitioner qualification.
  • Experience assessing children and young people, ideally within SEND, SEMH, or Alternative Provision settings.
  • Strong report-writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into practical strategies.
  • A warm, patient, trauma-informed approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Self-employed status and the ability to work flexibly across placements.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Pay Rates that reflect your skills, experience, and the impact you make.
  • Flexibility to fit assessments around your own schedule and commitments.
  • A Designated Education Delivery Coordinator as your main point of contact and support.
  • Ongoing Guidance & CPD to keep you up to date with national developments in education, safeguarding, and best practice.
  • A connected community of educators who genuinely support one another.

Ready to Apply? Send us your CV along with a brief outline of your relevant experience and Thrive licence, and one of our Education Delivery Coordinators will be in touch shortly.

AP Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.
