What Youll Do

This is a key role ensuring successful delivery of all financial reporting and preparation of statutory accounts for the charity and its subsidiaries which will involve;

  • Embed the organisational values of Respect, Honesty, Responsibility and Achieving Excellence in everything you do
  • Manage and develop two assistant accountants
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls
  • Prepare financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and maintain the group\’s consolidated financial statements
  • Produce the quarterly VAT returns and provide an internal source of VAT expertise
  • Review the balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Support the annual audit and financial year-end process including preparation of disclosure notes and supporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with charity accounting legislation, general accounting legislation and applicable company and charity law
  • Commitment to ensuring a responsive and genuine engagement with internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to help in its day-to-day running of the finance function
  • Participate in financial and financial systems projects as appropriate

What Were Looking For

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA) with 3 years+ PQE
  • Strong technical background
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong numerical and Excel skills
  • NetSuite or similar ERP system experience
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, compliance, and statutory accounts preparation
  • Experience in a similar role in a charity or social care organisation
  • Able to appreciate the need for confidentiality and discretion
