Are you an experienced insurance lawyer looking for an exciting new role in the London market? Are you aiming to develop your legal experience and skills in a commercial and international setting? We are seeking to recruit an experienced Insurance Lawyer with experience in the areas of Professional Indemnity and/or Cyber insurance. The successful candidate will join the Coverage and Insurable Risk Team in the Global Broking Centre in London. This is a hybrid role, based in our London office with the flexibility to work, for a proportion of the week, virtually.
The Coverage and Insurable Risk Team is made up of a number of Coverage Specialists, most of whom are qualified insurance lawyers. The team services the Broking teams in London who, in turn, are serving Network Offices around the world. The role of the team is to ensure best in class insurance coverage for our clients, both at an Aon product level and on a bespoke basis for individual clients.
It will be essential for the candidate to have significant experience of interpreting insurance policy wordings and the ability to draft clear policy language. Experience of insurance product design and drafting will be very helpful. As a guide, Aon is seeking someone who has substantial experience in the field of insurance law, whether contentious or transactional, and particular experience in Professional Indemnity and/or Cyber insurance. Having said this, candidates with experience in other lines of business who are willing to move into Professional Indemnity and/or Cyber will be considered. Full support in both lines of business will be provided.
What The Day Will Look Like
- Providing specialist input on all matters relating to the terms of the insurance cover placed for Aon’s clients
- Advising clients and network offices on terms of cover in conjunction with the Broking team
- Negotiating with underwriters on individual placements in conjunction with the Broking team
- Drafting and negotiating the terms of the cover provided under Aon facilities
- Assisting in the design and implementation of new insurance products
- Providing training to the Broking teams on coverage issues
- Developing Aon’s stance on market developments and interacting with market bodies such as Lloyd’s and the LMA
- Coordinating with coverage specialists around the Aon network to ensure an Aon United approach
- Cooperating with the Claims team on significant coverage issues arising in active claims
- Remaining up to date with all legal and regulatory developments impacting insurance coverage and the context within which it is sold and ensuring that the Broking teams are supported accordingly.
How This Opportunity Is Different
The successful candidate will join a small but vibrant team which sits at the heart of the business in the Global Broking Centre, advising Brokers and clients on real-time issues. The successful candidate will have a dual reporting line to James Whitaker, Head of Financial Lines Coverage, and Dan Screene, Head of Cyber Coverage. This is a Hybrid role which will allow for some home-based working, although the successful candidate will need to be in the office at least 50% of the time.
