Aon is recruiting a Business Leader, Head of Structured Portfolio Solutions (SPS), Global Broking Centre UK to join our team.

What the day will look like
Aon United
- Understand the Aon United agenda, support it actively and drive mindset change within the business
- Support Aon initiatives, contribute to and participate in Aon-wide senior executive groups, committees, ad hoc project teams and other bodies as necessary
- Continually build Aon IQ and drive this behaviour in the team
Thought Leadership
- Work with relevant partners to develop and enhance the competitive positioning of Aon relative to its competitors
- Build effective working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure the best of Aon is brought to clients and prospective clients
- Act as a representative of and spokesperson for Aon on external industry bodies and in the media as required
People & Culture
- At all times act as a role model and as an ambassador
- Lead the Portfolio Solutions team and ensure that managers and direct reports have objectives which are aligned with the overall broking strategy and ensure that their performance is satisfactory and that they are taking the necessary action continually to develop their capability as high performing colleagues
- Coach members of the team and develop a robust succession plan
- Ensure that robust performance management and training and competence processes are in place within Portfolio Solutions and that actions arising from these processes are implemented in a timely manner
Innovation
- Key to this role is the ability to translate business initiatives into a vision for the team and identify, develop and deliver a roadmap for the UK to deliver short- and long-term objectives
- Lead and champion the implementation and usage of new systems and processes into the team, to drive efficiency
Aon Growth Strategy
- Contribute to the development and implement the Aon Broking strategy by driving growth through utilisation of specialty, broking, technology and talent levers
- Work with key internal and external partners to identify, assess and create new client products and solutions
- Identify and develop opportunities for cross GBC co-operation and alliances
Client / Network Engagement
- Ensure the Client is at the heart of business propositions and practice, and they are treated fairly and ethically
- Lead and champion the deployment of Client Promise for direct client, ensuring that valid action plans are in place and delivered to agreed timelines
- Work with teams around the globe to share thought leadership and best practice with vision of true global client products
Business Performance
- Implement strategic and annual plans for the team consistent with relevant targets including the core 3 Aon targets ensuring plan are resourced, robust and in place to deliver year on year performance improvement
- Monitor all Aon targets set through the relevant tracking tools and take corrective action in year to ensure delivery to agreed targets
- Identify and follow up key business development opportunities both within existing lines of business and new channels or sectors
- Ensure that facilities, IT and other resource requirements for BU are defined, budgeted and actioned in line with the needs of the business and Aon procurement and financial control procedures
Team / People Leadership
- Maintain rigor, create guidelines and efficiencies to allow colleagues to focus on innovation and new product creation
- Diversity, equity and inclusion is embedded into employee life cycle creating truly inclusive team culture
- Continually drive focus on enhancing the colleague experience – measured through the global support survey and other key people metrics
- Drive adherence to the Aon Performance & Reward Management processes and philosophy, calibrating performance through mid- and end-year for the business.
- Demonstrate active Succession Planning through market mapping and the movement of high potential talent up through the business
Compliance & Risk Management
- Accountable for all FCA regulations and internal compliance requirements to be adhered to in a timely manner
- Promote all compliance related requirements throughout the business area and find opportunities for process improvement
- Ensure all agreed practices and tools are actively and consistently applied
- Lead by example by ensuring own activity follows regulatory requirements and business procedures
- Accountable for all colleagues to be actively involved in raising awareness of non-conformances and ideas for improvements
How this opportunity is different
Lead the GBC SPS function
- Work with business leaders to develop an approved SPS strategy for our Wholesale and Specialty segments
- Deliver the strategy including organisational and operational design and implementation
- Institute a system of continuous improvement to ensure Aon’s SPS are market leading
- Contribute to the Go to Market Strategy design and execution to enable to most impactful relationship with supporting carrier markets
- Engage across multiple regions providing thought leadership and best practice to ensure we are Delivering Aon United around the globe in line with our global broking strategies
- Identify and build SPS opportunities
- Collaborate with our Data and Analytics team to identify and prioritise segments of Aon’s in-scope portfolio which would benefit from utilising SPS
- Review the performance of Broker Facilities to ensure they are fit for purpose and providing client value
- Work with global leaders to drive growth through understanding client needs and creating appropriate solutions
- Work with Aon Underwriting Managers, Aon UK in house MGA to drive DUA creation and usage
- Work with Business Unit Leaders and Chief Broking Officers to support in product and solution design and execution
- Champion the benefits of SPS activity across Aon
- Enable the growth of the Aon MGA portfolio
- Develop the binder broking capability to enable best service levels and support to Aon’s global MGA businesses as appropriate
- Drive the innovation agenda with respect to efficiency and technology
- Represent SPS requirements in the development of strategic platform developments such as Future of Lloyd’s, PPL and Aon’s Digital Placement Programme
- Working with business partners develop the tools and capabilities to most effectively handle existing and new facilities
- Support the development and implementation of the appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the most effective growth in line with Regulatory requirements
- Work with the Aon UK Head of Products to ensure appropriate Product Oversight at AUKL level and within the Commercial Risk Solution Line
- Support Business Unit Enterprise Risk Management committee activity

- Consistent track record in portfolio solutions creation and management with a strong knowledge of the regulatory environment

- In-depth knowledge of leading a substantial, diverse business, including budgetary management skills.
