What the day will look like
This role is responsible for executing the local People Organization strategy supporting colleagues across the entire Bermuda office. The position requires a balanced blend of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong interpersonal capability. The incumbent will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and a key liaison between colleagues and leadership, ensuring alignment between business priorities and people practices while driving a high-performance, inclusive culture.
- Immigration: Oversee and manage the complete process of all new and existing work permit applications, ensuring compliance with local immigration requirements and timely processing.
- Payroll: Prepare monthly payroll change reports for Finance, capturing all employee lifecycle changes including hires, terminations, promotions, bonuses, one-time payments, deductions, and benefits updates. Review and approve monthly payroll across Bermuda, Barbados, and the Cayman Islands, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
- Business Partnering: Maintain a strong understanding of People Organization programs, policies, and initiatives to effectively guide leaders and drive adoption of changes. Partner with leaders to provide coaching, guidance, and support on employee-related matters, reinforcing Aon’s culture of inclusion, courage, connection, and accountability. Align people strategies with business priorities by understanding organizational goals and recommending solutions to enhance performance, productivity, and talent outcomes. Collaborate closely with Centers of Excellence (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Talent Development, Total Rewards, Learning & Development) to deliver integrated people solutions. Support workforce planning and organizational design efforts, including providing frontline support for change management and communications. Contribute to and support annual talent cycle activities, including performance management, compensation, talent reviews, and engagement initiatives. Promote high-performance standards by coaching managers to build accountable, continuously improving teams. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization. Participate in global, regional, and functional projects as required.
- HR Operations: Partner with Finance to support monthly headcount reporting and run-rate forecasting. Administer local HR systems supporting payroll and PTO across Bermuda, Barbados, and the Cayman Islands. Maintain and manage Workday data integrity, supporting talent and performance processes. Prepare statements of employment and new contracts for promotions and job changes, retention letters, and total rewards statements. Manage employment verification requests, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee the enrollment, renewal, and administration of all employee benefits programs, including medical, pension, savings, social insurance, life insurance, and long-term disability plans.
- Recruitment Partnership: Act as a key partner to business leaders and the Talent Acquisition team in sourcing and hiring top talent. Support the alignment of Bermuda hiring practices with Aon’s broader Talent Acquisition framework, ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements and global standards.
Skills and experience that will lead to success:
- 7+ years professional HR experience.
- Experience in the following areas: change management, performance management, conflict management, talent management, employee engagement, communication and workforce planning.
- Knowledge of Bermuda immigration & employment laws and currently relevant People trends.
- Demonstrated relationship and influence management skills across levels (from colleagues to senior leaders).
- Ability to meaningfully interpret data and translate into key trends/themes.
- Proficient in MS Office, with expertise in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in a business partner, specialist, and/or generalist role preferred.
- Workday experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of industry experience.
