The Director of Finance Systems is responsible for developing and delivering Aon’s Finance strategic objectives, expansions, continuous evolvement and improvement of Finance portfolio of forecast planning systems across the organization. This role will ensure that all of Aon’s financial systems objectives are met through leadership, management and resourcing for and during the execution and implementation of multiple projects. The role requires close collaboration with leaders across multiple shared service functions, including Finance, Corporate Systems and Aon Business services. Partnership is critical to ensure alignment on the overall business/technology architecture, adherence to local country statutory/compliance requirements, and strategic finance/technology evolvements.
The successful candidate should have a deep understanding of financial planning and ERP systems, with a proven track record of managing teams in multiple locations and driving multiple system implementations and improvements within a complex, multi region, global company.
What the day will look like:
- Provide strategic leadership on the execution of financial systems expansions, integrations and continuous improvements in line with organization and financial objectives.
- Lead and manage multiple projects across the core financial systems, including but not limited to Workday Adaptive and TM1.
- Lead multiple workstreams relating to Finance Digital transformation including the integration and consolidation of financial and operational data sets to enable standardization and harmonization of reporting and increased data insights.
- Ensure systems are integrated effectively to support accurate, and timely financial close and reporting, including partnering with ABS technology teams in times of system and business continuity challenges.
- Ensure systems remain compliant with regulatory and audit compliance and adhere to industry standards, internal and external controls.
- Form strategic partnerships with leaders across multiple shared service divisions including Finance, Controllership, FPA, Corporate systems, & ABS.
- Collaborate, build and maintain relationships across the functions and including Global, regional CFOS and country controllers to ensure awareness of inflight projects and to identify new opportunities.
- Communicate system capabilities and project updates effectively to stakeholders and ensure their needs are met.
- Manage vendor relationships, support RFPs and negotiate contracts related to finance systems.
Skills and experience that will lead to success:
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience in configuring and administering IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), including TM1 server architecture, complex rules, feeders, and TI processes.
- Proficiency in TM1Py, REST APIs, Python, and PowerShell is highly desirable for automation.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, ETL processes, and database technologies is essential.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP) and BI visualization tools (e.g., Cognos Analytics, Tableau, Power BI).
- Expertise in system analysis, testing, issue tracking, and change management.
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable financial business solutions for stakeholders.
- Experience leading cross‑functional global teams, improving processes, and providing training to end‑users.
- Proactive, analytical, and data‑driven mindset.
- Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and consolidations.
- Proven ability to manage large‑scale financial system implementations, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Advanced expertise in dimensional modeling and data warehousing to improve reporting efficiency.
