What the day will look like
As Chief Broking Officer, you will be accountable for developing and delivering Aon’s GBC broking strategy, ensuring best‑in‑class outcomes for our clients, network offices and carrier partners while driving sustainable growth. You will set the strategic direction for placement excellence, strengthen market relationships, and lead the execution of a differentiated, data‑driven broking proposition across the GBC.
Responsibilities
- Translating the Global Commercial Risk and broader Aon strategies into a coherent broking strategy and supporting initiatives for the GBC, ensuring effective strategy execution.
- Contributing to and participating in Aon‑wide senior executive groups, committees, project teams and other forums as required.
- Continually building GBC and Aon IQ and driving this behaviour across the GBC, working across a broad range of speciality and product broking teams.
- Working with relevant stakeholders to enhance Aon’s competitive positioning relative to competitors.
- Building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including Inpoint, AUM and retail teams) to ensure the best of Aon is brought to clients and prospects.
- Acting as a representative and spokesperson for Aon on external industry bodies and in the media as required.
- Developing and leading broking initiatives and strategies, and working with Business Unit Leaders to develop best‑in‑class portfolio solutions.
- Monitoring and managing all Aon Broking targets through relevant tracking tools, reviewing monthly performance to deliver agreed targets.
- Building and maintaining effective professional working relationships with carriers and other external stakeholders, taking a lead role in coordinating and resolving major claims disputes with clients and carriers on behalf of the GBC.
- Leading the GBC response to key initiatives launched by strategic carriers.
- Collaborating with the GBC Leadership Team to ensure succession planning for key roles and to drive a high‑performing culture.
- Championing the implementation and usage of new systems and processes to modernise the operating model.
- Incubating new ideas and products with clients and/or carriers, setting success criteria for pilot launches and securing compliance/legal sign‑off prior to full deployment.
- Leading the data & insights team to identify opportunities to develop new products and services.
- Ensuring the client is at the heart of business propositions and practice, and that they are treated fairly and ethically.
- Being accountable for ensuring network offices and clients receive best‑in‑class service from our broking teams.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Aon Broking strategy by driving growth through utilisation of specialty, broking, technology and talent levers.
- Working proactively and collaboratively with business unit leaders and network partners on RFPs/tenders and other major client opportunities.
- Continually driving focus on enhancing the colleague experience – measured through the global support survey and other key people metrics.
- Managing the acquisition of talent that meets future skill‑set requirements, and driving development in the high‑potential colleague population through development tools, secondments, assignments, mentoring, coaching and internal opportunities.
- Driving adherence to the Aon Performance, Talent & Reward Management processes and philosophy.
- Following the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework and policies means actively managing risks. This includes completing required training to prevent harm to the business, interests, or reputation of any Group company.

- Extensive experience as a successful, industry‑recognised senior broking practitioner in the London market, with a consistent track record of leading high‑performing broking teams.
- Deep understanding of London market dynamics, including the ability to identify market trends and develop/deploy broking strategies aligned to market conditions.
- Strong commercial foresight, with the ability to harness data & analytics for business results and to compose credible portfolio and placement solutions.
- Experience of working with global clients, senior business leaders, carriers and external industry bodies; strong networking and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation capability and extensive experience of panel and public speaking, underpinned by well‑developed knowledge of FCA requirements and standards.
