Job Description

Posting Description Aon (Radford Mc Lagan) is currently recruiting a Data Solutions Director to lead the Life Sciences Data Solutions team to drive growth for our UK Life Sciences segment, with a primary focus on our Radford Mc Lagan Compensation Database (RMCD).

This is a strategic growth role, responsible for data coverage, commercial expansion, and data-led consulting for the UK Life Sciences sector.

The successful candidate will lead our efforts to deepen market penetration, expand RMCD’s relevance and usage, and build a vibrant client community through trends, insights and thought leadership.

Our Life Sciences team partners with leading pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, healthtech and related organisations across the UK and Europe.

Our industry focus, on‑going client work and proprietary compensation databases allow us to frame each engagement within a broad business context and apply our understanding of competitive issues, reward practices and labour market trends to help organisations make better people and pay decisions.

  • Drive growth of RMCD in UK Life Sciences
  • Lead the commercial strategy for RMCD in the UK Life Sciences market, including go‑to‑market planning, expansion into new sub‑segments and enhancing data coverage.
  • Identify and prioritise growth opportunities across existing and prospective clients, including cross‑sell and up‑sell of data subscriptions and data‑enabled solutions.
  • Own and develop key client relationships
  • Build strong, senior‑level relationships with HR, Reward, Talent and business leaders across the UK Life Sciences sector, becoming a trusted adviser and partner.
  • Deeply understand clients’ strategic, talent and reward challenges; identify opportunities and design data‑led solutions using RMCD and the broader Human Capital Solutions (HCS) offering.
  • Lead business development activity focused on growing our client base and increasing penetration within existing accounts.
  • Data‑led consulting, insights and advisory
  • Originate, manage and deliver data‑led consulting projects leveraging RMCD and related datasets (e. g., pay benchmarking, market entry/expansion, pay architecture, skills and workforce insights).
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights, narratives and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Work closely with colleagues across HCS to bring integrated propositions that combine data, advisory, and technology.
  • Thought leadership, trends and community building
  • Monitor and interpret compensation, labour market, regulatory and industry trends impacting the UK Life Sciences sector.
  • Develop and disseminate thought leadership (e. g., white papers, blogs, webinars, conference presentations, client roundtables) using RMCD insights.
  • Build and curate a UK Life Sciences RMCD client community through forums, working groups and events, encouraging peer exchange and best‑practice sharing.
  • Data quality, coverage and product evolution
  • Partner with our client operations and product teams to ensure delivery of accurate, timely and relevant compensation data to clients.
  • Provide market‑driven feedback on data coverage, taxonomy, methodologies and features to continually improve RMCD for Life Sciences use cases.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Degree qualified, ideally in a numerate discipline.
  • Experience working with or in Life Sciences organisations desirable.
  • Solid understanding of and interest in Life Sciences.
  • Understanding of compensation and the issues affecting reward structures.
  • Would be considered an expert on pay approaches within the Life Sciences sector.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a proven record of ability to distil large amounts of data into a coherent message to facilitate decision making.
  • Likely have a supervisory/mentoring role. Would be a person that more junior staff can learn from and takes a proactive role in sharing experience and expertise.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing senior client relationships and originating new work, ideally in a consulting, data or professional services environment.
  • Able to develop business by understanding a client’s requirements, tailoring approach and designing solutions that drive measurable value.
  • Manages client relationships utilising resources where appropriate (junior staff, senior experts, technology).
  • Prioritising requests and managing client’s expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication. Exceptional attention to detail.
