Aon are currently recruiting a UK Life Solutions / Holding & Finance Companies Assistant Controller to join our team in London. Aon is in the business of better decisions. What the day will look like
- Support the UK Holdings and Finance Companies Controller in the oversight of financial and technical matters pertaining to the UK Life Solutions/Holding & Finance entities.
- Work closely with controllership business partners, finance colleagues and wider stakeholders including senior finance stakeholders to help ensure reporting is accurate, timely and well controlled, maintaining strong financial governance and a robust control environment.
- Lead the timely and accurate month end close process for Life Solutions Limited through working closely with the UK and Krakow FP&A department.
- Review revenue recognition in relation to complex transactions, incentives and related accounting treatment as well as balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the development of other team members through task management, ongoing feedback, and documentation of performance management.
- Lead the timely production of Life Solutions Limited monthly MI reporting through the review and documentation of walkthroughs of actual management results to plan and forecast.
- Review existing transfer pricing mechanism calculations such as the Aon Network Fee, Global Brand Royalty and Global Client Profitability.
- Review and produce the quarterly intercompany management recharges for Life Solutions in accordance with the existing transfer pricing agreements.
- Prepare the quarterly statutory extended trial balance under IFRS developed from the processing of statutory journals which are reconciled on a quarterly basis.
- Own the statutory financial statement process end to end until delivery of the financial statements to the Board for approval and signing.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, simplify processes and resolve any weaknesses impacting management or statutory reporting.
- Support wider finance projects and M&A activity where required.
- Review and submit the quarterly statutory forecasting and analysis of profit before tax, net asset valuation and cash flows for tax.
- Work in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP.
- Experience in accounting/reporting function.
- Ability to demonstrate good verbal, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Experience of working independently on project based tasks and delivering required results in a timely manner.
- University degree preferred; Qualified accountant, ACA preferred.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.
- Experience with financial systems preferred.
