Aon Reinsurance is looking for a Risk Analyst!
Located in downtown Des Moines, this position is hybrid with days in office being Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Position Summary
Outsourced to Aon’s client PrinREI (Principal Real Estate Investors) a division of Principal Financial Group responsible for providing risk management solutions and consultative services. Reports to PrinRei’s Assistant Director of Risk Management. Some travel may be required.
Role Responsibilities:
Program Processes and Procedures
- Provide insurance expertise for property and casualty lines of coverage. Knowledge of property and general liability rating, reading, and understanding of coverage forms and maintenance of coverage for operational commercial assets and ground up construction.
- Knowledge of employment practice, fiduciary and D&O coverages including occurrence and claim made based coverage forms.
- Identify and analyze risk exposures for various asset classes, locations, etc.
- Serve as an expert to PrinREI\’s personnel regarding risk controls and insurance coverage.
- Provide expertise in policy and coverage interpretation to operating company personnel.
- Work with PrinRei Development Managers and Joint Venture Partners in assessing insurance needs.
- Provide insurance expertise and knowledge in maintaining, quoting, placement and renewal of Owners Association insurance including D&O coverage.
- Check for adequacy of property and liability insurance coverage and premium for coverage to be purchased/renewed by JV partners and property managers.
- Provide written and oral communication on a variety of contracts.
- Through oral and written communication, develop and maintain effective working relationships with PrinREI departments.
- Review and recommend insurance terms in contracts.
- Conduct contract reviews and coordinate incoming and outgoing insurance certificates issuance and maintenance.
- Manage transit and property modules in Risk Management database (Risk Console).
- Provide ongoing risk management support and expertise as needed.
Other Functions:
- Work with the risk management specialist to understand administrative functions working together to identify ways to increase productivity.
- Provide create and update statements of value for acquisitions building replacement reports using Marshall & Swift Building Cost system.
- Purchase NFIP flood insurance as needed.
- Provide input as needed for claims occurring at properties in assigned territory.
- Attend carrier or industry meetings as required.
- Assist with other projects as may be requested.
- Develop and maintain communication tools for senior management and operating personnel describing risk management policies, programs, loss control initiatives and claims history.
- Proactively look for, assist, and develop new processes, procedures, and initiatives to provide value to the organization and its partners.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree – concentration in Risk Management a plus.
- Professional certificates such as ARM or CPCU a plus.
- Experience with insurance underwriting or brokerage.

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position is $57,000 to $67,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted to reflect applicant’s geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
