This is an in-office role working from our Hamilton, Bermuda office location.
What the day will look like
- Mentor, develop and engage members of the claims team.
- Demonstrate broad technical knowledge across multiple functions and transfer that knowledge through internal knowledge sharing, thought leadership and participation in internal calls, newsletters and technical forums.
- Serve as the client’s advocate with Bermuda insurers, including reviewing coverage positions and determining strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Engage insurers in the resolution of complex and high-value claims.
- Provide expert advice on claims processes and coverage issues across multiple product lines, including but not limited to Property, Casualty, Cyber, Financial Lines, Healthcare and Professional Indemnity.
- Work with brokers to maintain open and effective communication between broking and claims.
- Establish and document claims processes, procedures and quality standards.
- Drive formal process design and continuous improvement to enhance colleague and client experience.
- Lead or participate in audits (e.g. pre-renewal audits, reserve reviews, closure prospects) and oversee claim file governance.
- Ensure accurate entry and ongoing maintenance of claims information in internal systems and platforms, including Aon Claims Co-Pilot.
- Coordinate the delivery of claims analysis, reports and insights into trends.
- Use data and analytics to improve claims outcomes and support internal and external clients.
- Safeguard the integrity of claims data and ensure it is used appropriately across the business.
- Share claims insights, trends and trading partner experience to support future placements, policy wording and business development.
- Perform any other responsibilities as required by the manager(s) to achieve the purpose of the role.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Deep understanding of the Bermuda claims market, with strong technical expertise across commercial lines and complex policy wordings.
- Proven operational leadership experience, including strategic decision making and ownership of processes, data and quality assurance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the claims lifecycle from first notification through to resolution, including complex and high-value matters.
- Consistent delivery of high-quality service to both internal and external clients.
- Strong knowledge of key market participants and insurer partners, and the ability to act as a trusted adviser and client advocate.
- Effective negotiation skills, including experience engaging with insurers to resolve coverage issues and advance claim outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across claims, broking, clients and insurers.
- A track record of developing, mentoring and engaging team members while balancing broader operational responsibilities.
- At least 10 years’ claims experience preferred, or commensurate legal or commercial risk/insurance experience.

The successful candidate will report to Aon Bermuda Ltd.’s Chief Executive Officer, with a helix report to Aon’s Chief Claims Officer – United States and Bermuda.
