Better Decisions Begin with You

Aon shapes decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. When you join us, you’ll become empowered to make the same impact, as you explore ways of becoming a more relevant, connected and valued professional.

We’re hiring! Join Aon’s Investment Consulting graduate programme and step into life as a valued member of our elite team of experts. Our consultants have been advising employers and governments on their pension schemes and other wealth — totalling around $4 trillion — for over 60 years. You’ll be a key member of our dedicated teams, playing a vital, hands‑on role in giving our global clients the support they need. This involves providing investment consulting services and advice covering markets and strategic considerations, such as managing assets and liabilities. You’ll gain early experience of dealing with a wide range of investments, adapting them around economic conditions and outlooks.

Your role as an Investment Consulting Graduate

As a member of our Investment Client Group, you’ll be working predominantly with Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes and other asset owners. Covering all aspects from setting investment strategies, selection of investment managers, management of liabilities (for pension schemes) and cashflow requirements, through to responsible investment and improving governance outcomes. You’ll also learn how and why pension scheme liabilities change because of economic assumptions – such as inflation, interest rates and the effect that market movements have on invested assets. This is a hugely rewarding and varied role. You will be collaborating with a wide range of clients at all levels and making a difference to the growth of the solution line by being involved in the development of the client relationship and new clients right from the outset. You will have the support from your team and the wider Aon business to deliver excellent client care at every step of the journey.

What the day will look like

Whether you’re interested in building client relationships, developing your analytical skills or leveraging new technologies, you’ll be welcomed into a supportive and actively inclusive environment, deliberately designed to help you learn and grow. As an Aon graduate, each day is an opportunity to develop new skills and help shape the future of our industry. You will support consultants in the delivery of advice predominantly to defined benefit pension schemes, but also endowments, charities and other institutional clients. You would be responsible for supporting day‑to‑day deliverables while identifying opportunities to innovate and drive efficiency.

You’ll have opportunities to:

  • Work closely with diverse mentors and explore a range of unexpected niches that play to your strengths.
  • Enjoy the reassurance of a structured pathway, whilst working towards your desired qualifications.
  • Get regular opportunities to network and meet colleagues who can advance your development.

What are we looking for?

  • Motivation and ambition to pursue a career in Investment Consulting.
  • The ability to articulate why you want to join this role at Aon and why you want a career within consulting.
  • Strong consulting skills with a client focused outlook.
  • A desire to understand and work closely with clients to help them achieve goals.
  • Passion and curiosity.
  • A desire to understand UK pension schemes and their relationship with the global macro‑economic environment.
  • Data Analytics skills.
  • The ability to summarise and interpret data effectively using a range of digital tools and platforms so we can concisely present data driven insights to our clients.
  • Strong communication skills. Both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style for different stakeholders.
  • A self‑starter that can take the initiative, work independently when needed but can also work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Technological awareness. Strong interest in the rapidly evolving technological landscape and a willingness to understand and learn more about the challenges and opportunities that it presents.

Your Development

As an Aon Graduate, you will be enrolled onto our Launch Programme when you join. This development programme is built around 3 core elements:

  • Business learning. On the job learning and experiences enabling you to develop your knowledge and understanding of your team and solution line.
  • Centralised learning. UK graduates complete an Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops; all designed to develop your knowledge of Aon, build your confidence and your network across our business.
  • Professional Qualifications – To enable you to be as successful as possible, as part of your role, you will be expected to complete the relevant professional qualification. First, towards the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), you can then choose whether you’d prefer to take the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) professional qualification. To support you as you study for your exams, you’ll receive paid study leave, plus an extensive range of study and tuition materials.

Your career beyond your Graduate programme

Once you’ve completed the formal graduate programme, you’ll continue to receive lots of support at Aon. As well as continued technical and business skills training, you’ll receive support for your Actuarial or CFA qualifications. To aid your professional development you’ll receive regular performance feedback, and work with your line manager towards promotions.
