Business Development Manager – Aon, Corporate Risk, Scotland

What the day will look like

As a Business Development Manager within Corporate Risk, you will create and convert new opportunities while positioning Aon as the adviser of choice for organisations looking to protect and grow their business. You will work closely with the Scottish leadership team, client relationship leaders, brokers and specialist practice groups to bring the best of Aon to prospective clients.

• Identifying, developing and converting new corporate opportunities across Scotland
• Building and maintaining a strong pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, partnerships and referrals
• Developing relationships with senior decision-makers, including CEOs, CFOs, Finance Directors, Risk Managers and business owners
• Understanding each prospect’s commercial priorities, risk landscape and growth ambitions
• Positioning Aon’s full range of risk, insurance, claims, analytics and advisory capabilities in a way that is relevant to each client
• Leading and coordinating tenders, proposals and client presentations, bringing in the right Aon specialists at the right time
• Working collaboratively with broking, claims, risk consulting, employee benefits and wider Aon colleagues to deliver compelling client propositions
• Representing Aon at business, industry and networking events to enhance our visibility across Scotland
• Negotiating commercial terms and securing profitable, sustainable new business growth
• Ensuring all activity is delivered in line with regulatory requirements and Aon’s risk management standards

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• Tried business development, relationship management or sales experience, ideally gained in financial services, professional services, banking, investment, consultancy, corporate services, technology or insurance
• A strong interest in business, risk, client strategy and the Scottish corporate market
• Experience generating and converting new business opportunities
• Strong sales, negotiation and relationship-building skills
• Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and C-suite decision-makers
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and relevant
• Commercially astute with a strategic approach to business development
• Strong networking capability and an established professional network in Scotland would be advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team environment
• Curiosity, resilience and the motivation to learn Aon’s solutions and build a long-term career in risk advisory
