Commercial Risk Solutions:

Our Commercial Risk teams are responsible for helping clients protect their business in a world increasingly exposed to new risks, whether that’s extreme weather events or the emergence of AI. Aon aims to provide a tailored approach to risk transfer as well as our extensive ability to support with risk management advice and services. We assist clients with their insurance buying decisions, aiming to optimize the balance of risk transfer and retention financing through valuation and analysis.

Your role as a Client Management Apprentice in Commercial Risk

Join our Commercial Risk Apprenticeship scheme as a valued and permanent employee from day one. Working alongside your colleagues, you will be supporting clients in the management of their insurance programmes. This includes both the placement and supporting our clients with risk identification. You will have the unique responsibility of supporting some well-known brand names, ensuring they have the insurance cover, which could include a wide range of insurance from property through to cyber.

Your Development

As an Aon Apprentice, you will be enrolled onto our development programme when you join. This programme is built around 3 core elements:

  • Business learning – on the job learning and experiences giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the team and solution line you have joined.
  • Centralised learning - UK apprentices complete an Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops; all designed to help you develop your knowledge of Aon, build your confidence and your network across our business.
  • Professional Qualifications – we want you to be as successful as possible, so we’ll fully support your study towards your level 4 Insurance Apprenticeship and Certificate in Insurance through Chartered Insurance Institute professional qualification.

Building Relationships

With Aon business leaders playing an active role in our development, you’re encouraged to make the most of every networking opportunity open to you. The early relationships you build will include:

  • Your Apprentice network – you’ll meet Apprentices from all areas of Aon in the UK, helping you navigate our business and grow a support network from day one.
  • Your mentor – an experienced colleague who can help you out with career guidance, specific issues or any general thoughts or queries you have.
  • Business seniors – many experienced colleagues will be actively interested and involved in your development.
  • The Early Careers Team – here to help smooth the way, open doors and advise you on developing your knowledge, skills and prospects.

Your career beyond your Apprenticeship

Once you’ve completed the formal apprenticeship programme, you’ll continue to receive lots of support at Aon. We would expect you to be promotion ready within 18 to 24 months and you will continue to grow your career in the Insurance industry. You will also be able to continue your studies for the CII qualifications through to Chartered status.

Entry Requirements

  • 112 UCAS points from your top 3 A Levels (or equivalent) or 280 UCAS points for exams sat prior to 2017 (excluding General Studies) i.e. BBC
  • Five grade 9 – 4 GCSEs including Maths and English (A*- C GCSEs for exams studied prior to 2020)

  • Motivation and ambition – you will need to be able to articulate why you want a career in insurance or reinsurance.
  • Commercial awareness – this helps us to provide support and advice to our clients with clarity and confidence.
  • Passion and curiosity - understand the value of and be passionate about delivering excellent Client Service.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style for different groups of people.

We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new apprentice, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.

Our apprentices are on permanent contracts from day one. We welcome applications from candidates who have their own right to work within the UK where you can maintain and demonstrate your right to work throughout the duration of your employment.
