We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic Butchers Assistant to support our team in the preparation and sale of high-quality meat products, to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the meat counter, maintaining high food safety standards, and provide excellent customer service.,

  • Assist in the cutting, trimming, and preparation of meat products (beef, pork, lamb, poultry, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment in line with food safety regulations.
  • Support the lead butcher in portioning and packaging meats for display and sale.
  • Serve customers at the counter, offering advice on cuts and cooking methods.
  • Stock rotation, labelling, and checking deliveries for quality and accuracy.
  • Use knives, saws, and other butchery equipment safely and correctly.
  • Follow all health & safety and food hygiene procedures.

    Previous experience in a butchery or food preparation environment preferred, but not essential (training can be provided).

  • Strong attention to detail and good knife skills (or willingness to learn).
  • Knowledge of meat cuts and food safety regulations (desirable or willingness to learn).
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual work (moving 25-30KG+ of product at any one time)
  • Good communication skills and customer service focus.
  • Team player with a positive and flexible attitude.
  • A driving license would be advantageous but not necessary for the role.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to cover staff holidays and sickness.
  • Achieved a Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate or prepared to do it (paid by employer).
