Overview

At AO Recycling, we’re a friendly bunch on a mission to do good for the planet. We run one of the UK’s most advanced recycling sites for old electricals (WEEE) and are focused on safety, responsibility, and high standards. As a SHEQ Officer at AO Recycling, you’ll be a valued part of the team, helping us stay on top of safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with different teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and integrity to keep our people, planet, and processes running at their best.

Responsibilities

  • Hold or work towards NEBOSH Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (essential)
  • Professional qualification in Environmental Management (e.g., IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental, or equivalent) (desirable)
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., IOSH, IEMA, CIWM)
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a SHEQ role, ideally within recycling, manufacturing, or logistics
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards
  • Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of UK SHE legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SHEQ management systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in processing, manufacturing, or a similar environment
