About The Role
Are you a solution-oriented leader ready to make an impact in logistics? We are looking for an Assistant Shift Manager to ensure smooth operations, collaborating with teams like Transport, Inventory, Returns and Outbases, while building strong relationships with Commercial, Quality, People and Health and Safety Functions. You will report to the Shift Manager, providing support and stepping in when needed, driving efficiency and operational success. Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 40.25 hours per week
Start/Finish time: 6pm - 6am

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Leadership and Support: Report directly to the Shift Manager, providing vital support and stepping in when needed. Lead and motivate teams across various departments to maintain efficiency and operational success. Drive team development and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Operational excellence: Ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations across departments like Transport, Inventory, Returns and Outbases. Complete incident reporting to ensure accurate documentation of any operation issue or safety concerns. Report maintenance issues and liaise with relevant departments to inform or help resolve the issues efficiently. Manage and escalate high-level tickets related to the operation, ensuring swift resolution. Cover other operation management roles when required.
- People Management & Development: Conduct 1-1 and development chats to support employee growth and performance. Conduct welfare meetings to address employee concerns and wellbeing. Conduct and manage formal PIP process to address performance issues and encourage improvement. Issue recognition cards throughout the operation to recognise achievements. Administer documented discussions to ensure clear communication and employee accountability. Conduct disciplinary hearings to handle employee conduct issues in a fair and consistent manner. Conduct grievance investigations to ensure issues are addressed and resolved fairly. Approve holidays, ensuring adequate coverage and staffing levels.
A Few Things About You
- Warehouse Operations and Management: Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound warehouse processes. Hands-on experience in stock management, audits, and adapting to changing workloads.
- Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to motivate and develop a diverse team with fair, consistent leadership. Calm and solution-oriented under pressure, driving results and team success.
- Operational efficiency: Skilled in supply chain processes and cross-functional collaboration. Expertise in labour management, capacity planning, and dispatch to optimise efficiency.
- Technical and reporting skills: Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office. Experience in generating management reports to track performance and drive improvements.
- Performance & metrics: Strong understanding of key performance metrics, including damage rates and labour costs to improve operations.
