We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing and Proposal Executive to join our growing Marketing team.
Department Purpose
Our global BD, marketing, and communications teams drive the firm's business objectives by supporting partners and associates in building trusted client relationships, winning new work, and positioning the firm as a leading global law firm. The function operates as one team worldwide, combining central groups (e.g., Communications, Events) with embedded BD professionals supporting offices, practice groups, sectors, and clients. This role supports the global Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure (ENRI) practice, primarily focusing on energy and energy transition, while assisting with broader practice initiatives.
Role Purpose
In this role, you will focus on the implementation of the BD strategy across the energy subsectors, including emerging energy transition technologies such as green fuels, carbon capture & storage and the battery mineral value chain. The role will involve supporting the development and growth of the practice by working collaboratively across borders on sector-driven BD activities (focusing on pitches), campaigns and initiatives. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in the energy and infrastructure sectors looking for a targeted role that spans one of A&O Shearman's core products and five of its priority sector groups.
What you will do
- Lead proposals, pitches, and credentials for energy and energy transition work; track outcomes and feedback.
- Manage marketing systems, collateral, credentials, and web content; suggest process improvements.
- Prepare directory and award submissions to enhance market presence.
- Conduct market/client research and maintain intelligence flow.
- Support client events and hospitality opportunities.
- Assist with firm-wide and practice-specific projects.
What you will have
- Proven experience leading pitches in professional services or sector-related organizations.
- Strategic insight and ability to align BD activities with business goals.
- Knowledge of energy markets and transition trends.
- Significant BD/marketing experience at senior level.
- Significant experience leading the RfP process from start to finish.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure; proactive and creative approach.
- Experience delivering BD strategies aligned with strategic goals.
