We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Marketing Product Manager to join the Marketing team, based in the A&O Shearman Belfast office.
The business development, marketing, and communications team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm's global client strategy, which includes guiding the partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming the clients' trusted advisers, building and maintaining long‑lasting, deep, institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors, and clients.
What you will do
The digital marketing product manager is responsible for the strategic management and optimization of several digital and marketing technology platforms. Acting as a subject matter expert, the role oversees the integration, adoption and performance of tools and services to support the firm's global marketing and business development objectives. The position collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure best practice, compliance, and innovation across several digital channels, driving continuous improvement in client engagement and digital experience.
- Product ownership
- Managing supplier relationships, including regular service reviews, contract review/renewal and procurement of additional functionality/features.
- Understanding supplier roadmaps and advising on evolutions of the service internally.
- Managing integrations with other systems.
- Being the global expert on platforms in scope and offering best practice recommendations, including designing global working practices, resolving complex technical and practical challenges, managing/coordinating global and local training programmes alongside our global IT training team, ongoing training of the Digital and Marketing Technology specialists to support internal users.
- Understanding data privacy principles and the firm's approach to data protection.
- Maintaining and updating DPIAs, TIAs.
- Interpreting platform data/reporting and analytics.
Products – Vuture
- Managing the technical configuration of Vuture (email marketing platform) including hosting and maintenance, releases, new features and projects, liaising with IT and Vuture developers.
- Managing and optimizing the ongoing integration with CRM.
- Managing ad‑hoc projects, from requirements definition through to delivery and adoption.
- Managing the blog subscription and alerting functionality.
- Defining and maintaining global best practice standards for email marketing, including subject lines, copy, CTAs, templates, accessibility and UX.
- Establishing and evolving performance benchmarks (e.g. deliverability, clickthrough rates, form fills and engagement) and using these to drive continuous improvement.
- Leading testing and optimization programmes (A/B testing, audience segmentation, send time optimization) to improve campaign effectiveness.
- Being the global expert on email marketing campaigns providing strategic and practical guidance on campaign design, platform usage and complex technical issues.
- Designing and embedding global working practices, governance and documentation to ensure consistency, quality and compliance across regions.
- Ensuring compliance with data protection and consent requirements (e.g. GDPR), including subscription management, preference centres and audit trails.
- Ongoing training of the Digital and Marketing Technology team (Belfast) to support users and acting as a point of escalation for more complex queries.
Passle
- Defining best practices around the use of Passle, including content creation, publishing workflows, quality standards and compliance.
- Defining metrics and reporting to monitor adoption, engagement and effective use of the platform.
- Boosting adoption and long‑term value of Passle in collaboration with the product sponsor, content teams and senior stakeholders.
- Scaling support for the platform by building and documenting processes for user onboarding and offboarding, approvals, quality assurance and governance.
- Optimizing the integration between Passle and Sitecore to ensure content is surfaced effectively and performance can be measured.
- Troubleshooting and liaising with Passle support.
- Liaising with in‑house stakeholders such as content, knowledge, IT security, architecture, infrastructure to ensure secure and compliant use of the tool.
Ceros
- Developing, documenting and maintaining governance on the use of Ceros including content types, design standards and approval processes.
- Liaising with the creative services team's power users.
- Building good practice and governance among stakeholders.
- Liaising with stakeholders to optimize performance measurement, analytics and reporting.
Hanzo
- Supporting mandatory reporting requirements on an ad hoc basis.
- Defining best practices around the use of the tool.
- Troubleshooting platform issues and liaising with Hanzo support.
- Creating support and training documentation, acting as second line support for internal users.
- Working with content aggregators such as JD Supra, Mondaq and Lexology to distribute and amplify firm content.
- Developing strategies for using aggregator performance and audience data to support business development activities and opportunities.
- Identifying and optimizing opportunities for integration with CRM.
- Monitoring performance and engagement across aggregators to inform content strategy.
General digital marketing advisory and best practice
- Supporting the rollout of new digital initiatives, ensuring best practice, user adoption, and alignment with the firm's data privacy and compliance standards.
- Advising on ad‑hoc technology requests from the wider marketing and business development teams, providing recommendations on digital solutions and integrations.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams (including IT, data privacy, and external suppliers) to ensure seamless delivery and governance of digital products.
- Staying up to date with digital marketing trends and MarTech innovations, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the firm's digital client experience.
What you will have
- At least six years' experience in managing MarTech products.
- Previous experience of marketing digital platforms and marketing automation systems including Marketo, Pardot, Dynamics, Hubspot, Passle, Ceros, Vuture, Mondaq, Lexology, Lead Forensics.
- Experience of using business intelligence tools like Power Bi to aggregate, report on campaign, channel or client trends/analysis.
- Experience of managing external suppliers/agencies.
- Ideally, previous experience across CRM systems including Microsoft Dynamics and/or Salesforce.
- An ability to translate complex technical knowledge into simple concepts and language.
- Effective people manager and an ability to help and develop team members.
- Superb communication skills, written and oral.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels and across cultures.
- Risk management skills and knowledge of key regulations (such as GDPR) and information security principles.
