Job Description
About The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Day Shift Supervisor to help lead our logistics team and ensure the smooth running of daily operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that our delivery and installation runs are prepped to go out each morning and supported via tracking any issues which may arise throughout the day.
A hands-on approach is required to support our self-loading depot and you will ensure that all our vehicles are road worthy, legal and compliant whilst providing on-going support to our Drivers, Quality and People teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Team Leader ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in a growing and dynamic business.
- Salary: £26,520.14 per annum
- Hours: 5 on 3 off, 5 on 2 off (40 hours per week)
- Start and finish time: 1pm – 10pm
- Job Type: Full time and permanent contract
- Location: Unit H/J Fort Wallington Industrial Estate, Military Road, Fareham, Hampshire PO16 8TT
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing:
- Complete in-house reports for the Depot Manager daily
- Check that all vehicles leaving the depot are secure and meet required transport legislation requirements
- Supervise and motivate a team both employed and self-employed drivers and ensure they are complying with the training that they have received
- Complete alcohol testing when required
- Communicate with our Drivers, handling any queries efficiently and in a professional manner
- Transport Debriefing duties of vehicles returning from delivery and installation runs
- Provide hands on support and take responsibility for managing the transhipping and reloads
A Few Things About You:
- Understand transport legislation and logistics operation
- Able to build good relationships with people even when under pressure
- Challenge any vehicle issues or damages with our Drivers
- Able to make decisions in the absence of the Depot Manager to drive performance and service
- React quickly to information and be able to solve problems independently
- Good communication skills both verbally and written
- Competent use of Microsoft, particularly Excel
