About the role:
We are looking for a Health and Safety Business Partner to support the strategic direction of Health & Safety in Logistics and Retail. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you\’ll help set and maintain compliance standards, collaborate with operational managers to implement the strategy, and monitor performance. Using data, you\’ll provide feedback, highlight improvement areas, and ensure accountability across the business.
- Salary: £45,000 per annum.
- Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week)
- Location: Nationwide (Travel Required)
Here is what you can expect to be doing:
Health and Safety & Compliance:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the Health & Safety strategy across Logistics and Retail.
- Conduct regular monitoring to ensure compliance with H&S standards.
- Ensure that all practices align with the company’s health and safety policies and industry standards.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
- Develop and maintain reports and MI detailing current performance.
- Highlight areas for improvement and provide solutions to address performance gaps.
- Create data to track performance across the business areas, identifying potential risks before they materialise.
- Present findings to senior leadership teams, advising on performance and improvements.
Communications and Collaboration:
- Support the launch and implementation of a new H&S communications strategy.
- Foster collaboration and build strong working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Ensure clear and timely communication of H&S findings, risks, and action points to all relevant parties.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advice:
- Assist in setting H&S targets and support stakeholders in achieving them.
- Advise on potential changes to legislation and their expected impacts on the business.
- Work with the business to promote and achieve relevant safety standards and accreditations.
Safety Standards and Training:
- Conduct physical H&S site reviews across all AO sites as required.
- Deliver H&S training to employees where needed, ensuring that teams are equipped to work safely and compliantly.
- Support the business in maintaining its RoSPA Gold award status.
Process Improvement and Project Support:
- Assist in the completion of H&S projects aimed at improving policies, processes, and safety procedures.
- Conduct thematic assessments of business-critical processes and sites.
- Review departments based on risk matrix, ensuring results are communicated effectively.
Regulatory & Accreditation Management:
- Maintain and develop relationships with regulators and authorities to ensure compliance and up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.
- Guide the business in achieving relevant safety standards and accreditation.
Site & Departments Reviews:
- Ensure H&S reviews are conducted within set timeframes for each site/department.
- Provide trend analysis and key information to the H&S Manager for discussion with H&S committees.
Project Representation:
- Represent Health and Safety during business projects, such as the opening of new sites, to ensure compliance from the outset.
A few things about you:
- Have or working towards a Health and Safety Diploma or Level 5 NVQ.
- Be a member of IOSH.
- Working towards CMIOSH is desired but not essential.
- Have or working towards an environmental management qualification.
- Effective communication, conflict management, and influencing skills.
- Ability to collaborate with people working in similar governance roles.
- Self-motivated to research available resources to support work.
- Great IT skills including Excel and Power BI.
- Build rapport to a high standard.
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels within the business.
- Promote our company values in all aspects.
- Willingness to travel nationwide to various AO Sites or client locations, including working at night or overnight stays.
- Great time management skills.
