As a key member of our senior leadership team, the Head of Data & Analytics plays a vital role in connecting the dots between our data function, the wider business, and our customers. You’ll lead the charge on our Data & Analytics strategy—making sure it’s not just smart, but actionable. From shaping the roadmap to delivering real business impact, you’ll be driving outcomes that matter. You’ll be heading up a talented team of data specialists, helping them grow and thrive while building trust in data across musicMagpie. You’ll champion a strong data culture, evolve our tech capabilities, and make sure our data is working hard for the business.
Here\’s What You Can Expect To Be Doing
As Head of Data & Analytics, you’ll lead the design and delivery of our D&A strategy, working closely with Product, IT, and teams across the business to make sure data is driving the right decisions. You’ll be the go-to for understanding business needs and translating them into impactful data products—whether that’s through smarter reporting, better infrastructure, or new ways to unlock value from our data.
You’ll manage and develop a talented team, keeping them motivated and aligned to musicMagpie’s goals. From running daily ETL processes in Azure Data Factory to overseeing our Enterprise Data Hub, you’ll make sure our data is accurate, reliable, and accessible. You’ll also champion a data-driven culture, support self-serve analytics, and ensure we stay compliant and future-ready—both in how we use data and the tech we use to deliver it.
A Few Things About You
- Leadership – natural leader with an understanding of business objectives and goals and how to deliver results using data and analytics
- Business acumen – understands both the business and the industry it operates in, or can support themselves to continually learn about both
- Prioritisation – set clear guidelines on the delivery of work, develop and deliver against a D&A team roadmap that supports business plans
- Communication – the ability to ‘wear many hats’ in conversations with technical and non-technical colleagues, e.g., solve complex, detailed technical challenges as well as communicate clearly and without technical jargon to non-technical colleagues
- Technical knowledge – expert domain knowledge across data and analytics, guarantees delivery of best-in-class technical and analytical solutions for the D&A team’s infrastructure and stakeholder and business requirements
- Technical ability – knowledge and experience of ‘doing the work’ on data and analytics projects, e.g., developing a solution by coding in SQL Server or Python, as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to maintain BAU
- Collaboration – able to work in a group or wider team to support on cross-team projects, foster a supportive environment and can offer expertise on data questions
- Problem-solving – proven solution finder, able to embrace challenges in the D&A team and around the business with a critical thinking and innovative approach, advises on effective and appropriate use of data in business problems
Must have:
- Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)
- Experience with Python or R would be a huge advantage
- Experience with system architecture
- ETL/Data warehouse experience
