Hours: 3 days per week, 7:30am–6:30pm (two roles available)

Our agency is delighted to be partnering with a fantastic specialist school in Surrey to recruit two School Caretakers to join their Estates & Operations team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone practical, reliable and hands-on who enjoys keeping a school safe, clean and well maintained. You’ll be joining a supportive operations team and playing a key role in ensuring the school environment is fit for learning every day.

The Role

  • General building maintenance (painting, basic carpentry, minor repairs)
  • Plumbing fixes (sinks, toilets, showers)
  • PPM checks and logging maintenance requests
  • Furniture repairs and basic DIY tasks
  • Portering, moving furniture and supporting school events
  • Ad-hoc cleaning when required
  • Checking lights, heating, drains, gulleys and water systems (including legionella checks)
  • Maintaining playgrounds, car parks, garden areas and perimeter fencing
  • Ensuring safe access during bad weather
  • Supporting contractors on site and monitoring their work
  • Supporting with holiday maintenance programmes
  • Assisting with deliveries, setting up rooms and general site support

What We’re Looking For

  • Practical caretaking/maintenance experience
  • Basic skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing and general repairs
  • Someone proactive, reliable and able to work independently
  • Good understanding of health & safety
  • Experience in a school or similar environment is desirable but not essential
  • Friendly, helpful and willing to get stuck in
