Location: Central London (Site-Based)

Working Hours: Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00 | Saturday 08:00–13:00

Job Summary:

MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Manager to oversee all aspects of the MEP works for ongoing construction. The MEP manager will be assisting Senior MEP Manager duties such as the preparation of the scope, assisting in the selection of the MEP contractors, day-to-day monitoring of progress and quality, approval of works and payment applications. Assisting to prepare a road map to handover the MEP package including testing, commissioning, and handover to the client. Checking design coordination for MEP works package. Assisting Senior MEP Manager for the ownership of MEP works design and all related coordination with other disciplines. Take ownership of MEP works in absence of Senior MEP Manager of the project.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Support Senior MEP Manager for generating detailed sub-contractor design and material submission programme, follow up of design and material submissions.
  • Monitor and report any risks discovered in design, design submission – material sourcing, delivery delays, sub-contractor coordination.
  • Checking the received drawings in full detail, in line with the contract drawings, project specifications, with coordination with the other disciplines and constructability approach.
  • Clear the blockers in the way of technical material and design submissions that are raised by subcontractors.
  • Review submitted material submissions and samples with constraints of technical compatibility, project drawings and specifications.
  • Coordination of timely submission and review of the method statement and risk assessment (RAMS).
  • Assist in preparing ITPs, defining hold points and required tests for the scope of works.
  • Attend weekly meetings with subcontractor for the progress.
  • Monitor the progress, resources, and materials of the sub-contractor compared with the programme.
  • Follow up of work front handovers to the subcontractor with site manager and make sure the area is clear and ready for subcontractor to proceed.
  • Opening the issues on RDrive, follow and close the fixed issues on time. Follow up of subcontractor’s response time and response quality and highlighting the opportunities to improve, highlight any possible delay risks of subcontractor activities according to the site programme.
  • Ensuring record keeping for any delayed activity, late material delivery, damage to other works, non-compliant works.
  • Ownership and dedication to work permit system during construction.
  • Coordination of multiple trades and sub-contractors to ensure protection of the previous works.
  • Ensuring sub-contractors maintain clean work areas and adhere to HSE rules and highlighting any contravention.
  • Liaison with project manager and other package managers to understand daily and weekly targets.
  • Identify delays, enforce recovery plans with sub-contractors.
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with the company quality management system and health and safety management system.

Skills:

Knowledge:

  • Design functions of MEP package
  • Comprehensive understanding of MEP systems design, installation.
  • Good knowledge of British Standards, CIBSE guidelines, and local building regulations
  • Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations in construction projects
  • Understanding of testing, commissioning, and handover procedures for complex building systems.

Experience:

  • Experience of managing projects in the construction / M&E environment
  • Strong background in managing MEP subcontractors, procurement, and coordination between multiple disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience in reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Experience in budget control, variation management, and supporting commercial teams in claim preparation.
