Due to continued expansion, Antony Hodari Solicitors has an opportunity for an experienced Solicitor in our Breach of Contract Team - Housing Disrepair. When you join us, you’ll be part of a workforce that truly values each and every member of the team.

Housing Disrepair Solicitor – Breach of Contract

Liverpool L2 2QP – Hybrid working available (upon successful completion of probation)

  • Full time (with flexible start and finish times), permanent
  • £45,000 plus dependent on experience + Bonus (companywide pay review in November each year)
  • Able to bill work at Grade C or above

The role:

The successful applicant will handle a caseload of pre and post-litigated breach of agreement cases brought following agreements reached in Housing Conditions claims. We recognise that our people are our most valuable asset, and we have a track record of developing staff of the future.

Key tasks (not an exhaustive list):

  • Run a caseload of pre- and post-litigation breach of agreement cases on behalf of tenants
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, such as the Landlord & Tenant Act, CPR Part 8 procedure
  • Draft Applications for breach of agreement and specific performance
  • Draft Part 8 proceedings for breach of agreement
  • Review surveyor’s reports – Claimant and Defendant
  • Negotiation and settlement
  • General damages review
  • Liaise with Counsel
  • Prepare Court Bundles and Brief to Counsel
  • Familiar with access and decant issues
  • Use Proclaim (claims management software) competently and effectively, ensuring that business process and policy is adhered to
  • Communicate effectively with clients
  • Liaise with and build positive and professional relationships across the business
  • Carry out other duties, as and when required, to assist in the smooth running of the business

The successful applicant:

Our team structure means that we can support applicants with varying degrees of prior experience and have successfully supported several staff who have re-trained from fast paced litigation backgrounds such as personal injury. Successful candidates will be confident communicators with a high level of written and verbal skills and good attention to detail. You must be well organised and able to work in a busy environment with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight timescales. Candidates must be a fully qualified Solicitor.

Experience:

  • Housing Disrepair Breach experience preferred but not essential
  • Able to bill work at Grade C or above
  • Case Management System (Proclaim is used) experience is a must to be able to handle volume litigation
  • Demonstrable experience of being able to work at pace, with ability to manage competing priorities within own caseload
  • Have experience of litigating own matters
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • IT literate
