Director of Operations, Family Office

One of our private clients requires a Director of Operations to oversee the commercial and operational management of a substantial private portfolio.

This is a senior, principal-facing appointment suited to a sharp commercial operator with a finance background who now thrives on deals: negotiating acquisitions, stress-testing budgets, and delivering complex projects with discretion.

The Role

  • Lead negotiations on major acquisitions and disposals, securing strong terms on the family's behalf.
  • Build valuations, comparables and commercial cases to support decision-making.
  • Run due diligence on significant purchases and commitments.
  • Scrutinise budgets, accounts and major costs, working alongside the in-house Finance team to keep spending accountable.
  • Push suppliers and service providers for better terms without damaging relationships.
  • Manage bespoke projects end to end, coordinating external teams and advisers.
  • Maintain and vet a trusted network of external partners.

About You

  • Financially sharp - likely accountant-trained - with a track record of moving into commercial or deal-making work, ideally in a family office, private equity or UHNW setting.
  • Experienced negotiating and managing high-value acquisitions internationally.
  • A skilled negotiator who gets strong outcomes while keeping people onside.
  • Comfortable pulling apart accounts and spotting what doesn't add up.
  • Well connected, with the judgement and discretion the role demands.
