We're building the digital infrastructure that makes clean energy work in the real world. Seventy million machines run on diesel. The alternatives exist. But the operations are complex, the supply chains are still emerging, and for most companies the transition feels risky. That's the problem we're solving.

Logiq Systems builds the operational intelligence layer that makes clean energy work in the real world. One platform for fuel suppliers, rental companies, and asset operators to deploy, monitor, and optimise hydrogen, battery, solar, and alternative fuel systems — at the scale and reliability that industries actually need.

We're live across construction, events, and industrial sectors with customers including Toyota, Balfour Beatty, Acciona, Sunbelt Rentals, and Protium. The technology works. Now we're scaling the team that scales the business.

If you want to work on infrastructure that matters, in a company early enough that what you do shapes the industry, we'd like to hear from you.

Role Summary: We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (full-stack) to develop the Logiq platform. Working closely with our Head of Product, you will be responsible for building software that forms the core of our main business, as well as defining the long‑term technical direction of Logiq Systems.

Who we are today: Logiq Systems was founded in 2020 and is currently a team of five. Aran Bates and Ben Lindley are the founders, two friends turned colleagues. We are both dads of kids less than 5 years old (two each). Having both worked on this for two years self‑funded (although now venture backed) we are driving a huge market shift in off‑grid energy. While it is one that won't change with the speed of the AI bubble - this is infrastructure and hardware, not some AI wrapper over ChatGPT - it delivers sticky and lasting change with our customers and the industries we touch.

As a team our passion and mission is improving the world around us, making it better for people and the planet. Our purpose pushes us to be the force of change in this industry. Not just in environmental sustainability by making the world less polluted from carbon, noise and poor air quality, but also in creating a supportive company flexible to the realities of modern life. A company with a diverse, equal, and respectful workforce.

What does that really mean though? Well we recognise that talent can exist anywhere in the UK and that people have life commitments that can overlap with traditional 'core hours'.

  • Remote‑first: As a team we are spread across the UK from Edinburgh to London, this means we can work with the best people out there. We also recognise the importance of building a sense of team, meeting regularly (at least once a quarter) and put a lot of emphasis into team building in the 'virtual' work environment also - e.g. daily team video calls, non‑work Slack channels such as one specifically for sharing the music we are listening to. Although for this role there is a preference to have a candidate within around an hour of travel to Edinburgh or Oxford to work with the founders or the Head of product in person more regularly.
  • Flexible working: To manage the interface of life and work we operate a flexible working policy, at the start of every week we have a whole team standup and in that we clearly communicate as a team what commitments people have that might cut into the working day or lead to a hard stop at the end of the day, so that as a team we can ensure that life and work fit together.
  • Supporting women and primary carers in tech: Both Ben and Aran fully recognise the importance of building a supportive working environment for women and parents so they can continue a career, while remaining supportive and attentive to both kids and work. This has been heavily influenced through their experience as fathers and with partners who continue to have successful careers, while sharing parenting loads.

The team we are building: The team we want to build is one where we are:

  • Passionate about making a difference. We are pushing change through a traditional market there meaning there are naysayers, so it is very important we have strong belief in the change we are driving.
  • Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity. We must be flexible as the market is early and developing. You will be shaping a new offering in the clean energy industry right from the start!
  • Extremely self‑motivated with a strong work ethic. We are a small team and need people to own their work. We also work hard because we love what we do!
  • Fun! We need to enjoy what we do, while still being proud about the quality of our work.
  • Humble, authentic, and honest. We give credit where credit is due. We can respect, support and celebrate others for the value they bring.
  • Comfortable being challenged. We believe in creating an environment where we feel comfortable and safe enough for ideas to be challenged in a constructive manner.
  • Curious. Curiosity drives improvement and innovation. Always ask why.

The Role: As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the long‑term technical direction of the Logiq platform and products, which provide real‑time operational intelligence for connected clean energy assets. You will be designing and developing new products, features and improvements to the Logiq platform, delivering value to our growing customer base and the key capabilities required to evolve our growing business.

As a senior member of the team, you will also have direct input into the product direction, working closely with the Head of Product to shape how Logiq develops as we scale. You will also be the champion of software engineering best practices across Logiq Systems.

A few of your responsibilities:

  • Design and develop full‑stack features using React, Python, PostgreSQL and serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, Fargate).
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and event‑driven systems.
  • Maintain, extend and improve optimisation, alerting and forecasting models.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure high‑quality code through peer reviews, automated testing, documentation and adherence to software development standards.
  • Take ownership of the technical architecture and engineering processes.
  • Collaborate closely with a small startup team.

To thrive in this role: We expect you to:

  • Be comfortable with variety and shifting priorities. Early‑stage companies require adaptability, and you'll be working across very different types of tasks.
  • Take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks. You'll be given problems to solve, not always detailed instructions on how to solve them. We'll provide context and support, but you should be confident running with work and coming back with solutions or thoughtful questions.
  • Balance quality with speed. Early‑stage work requires knowing when "good enough" is better than "perfect but late".
  • Ask questions and challenge ideas respectfully. We value curiosity and constructive input across the team. We value people who bring their perspective and aren't afraid to ask "why?" or "what if we tried...?". Equally they are comfortable with their ideas also being respectfully questioned. We put the problem being tackled in the middle.

What you’ll need to do this job:

  • Full‑stack: Proven experience in full‑stack software development. We are using Python (REST & GraphQL) for the backend, React for the frontend.
  • Cloud architecture design: Proven experience in scalable cloud architecture design.
  • API design: Solid understanding API design (REST & GraphQL).
  • SQL/NoSQL databases: Experience working with SQL (Postgres) and / or NoSQL databases.
  • AWS: Familiarity with the AWS Serverless stack and event‑driven architectures.
  • Customer Mindset: We value engineers who have a strong product and customer‑centric mindset.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to explain ideas clearly.
  • Collaborative and low‑ego approach: You contribute positively to team culture and work well with others.
  • Agile: Comfortable with very lean/agile processes. We want you to be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle and bring your unique talents to the process.
  • DevOps: Experience with DevOps including setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines and terraform deployment.
  • AI enabled: Comfortable with leveraging AI to better assist developer workflows and rapid prototyping.
  • Testing: A strong testing mindset.

If you think you meet most of the criteria, please get in touch!

Experience we'd love to see:

  • Experience in developing high‑scalability systems.
  • Experience with IoT data collection and processing pipelines. We are using a combination of Node-RED, MQTT, Telegraf, Linux, Python, InfluxDB and TimescaleDB.
  • Experience with integration of 3rd‑party systems.
  • Experience with statistical modelling, ML optimisation & forecasting.
  • Strong data analytics skills.
  • Experience in early‑stage start‑ups, consulting, or high‑growth environments where you've navigated ambiguity and taken initiative.
  • Experience working on (renewable) energy products or telemetry producing systems.

Location: United Kingdom, Remote full‑time. We are remote first. We meet regularly (around once a quarter at least). We can’t currently support visas so you must have the right to work in the UK. Preference for 1hr travel proximity to Edinburgh or Oxford to meet semi‑regularly to work with founders or Head of Product.

Remuneration: £55,000 to £70,000/year salary depending on experience. Share options in Logiq Systems.
