Applications are invited to join our Obstetric & Gynaecology Department at Dorset County Hospital. We are a busy unit, managing a wide rural geographical area. The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic doctor with a minimum of two years\’ experience at Registrar Level in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

The middle grades participate in a rota based on 40 hours full shift, which is EWTD compliant. The Trust Doctor will attend major inpatient operating lists to enhance/develop surgical skills in abdominal and vaginal open surgery. Responsibilities include covering Labour ward, Gynaecology Ward, antenatal clinics, and day case surgery.

You will work alongside a team of 10 Consultants with special interests in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and benefit from various training opportunities, including CPD and non-clinical training. The post involves participating in peer supervision and team training programs.

Main duties include working across Obstetrics and Gynaecology, covering Labour Ward, antenatal, postnatal, and gynaecology wards, clinics, and units. You will be responsible for patient care and implementing clinical management decisions, managing labour ward independently, and handling obstetric emergencies.

Essential qualifications include Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice, MBBS or equivalent, and MRCOG Part 1. Desirable qualifications include MRCOG Part 2/3 and additional relevant qualifications.

Experience required includes a minimum of two years in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, competency to manage labour ward independently, and handling obstetric and gynaecological emergencies. UK experience at Registrar level and audit experience are desirable.

Skills include excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Additional desirable skills include RCOG Basic Practical Skills and ROBuST courses.

This post is subject to DBS checks, UK registration, and sponsorship requirements. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract, full-time, with a salary range of £49,909 to £61,825 per annum.
