Staff Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner – Theatres

Join Antistatique to support a busy surgical department at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

Theatres are looking to recruit enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners to support this busy Department. We are looking for all‑round trained Theatre Practitioners. Experience in Orthopaedics is desirable. The Theatres Complex at Dorset County Hospital includes Main Theatres (8), Day Surgery Unit (2), Weymouth Community Hospital (1) and the Procedure Suite at South Walks House. This role will be predominately in Main Theatres but all staff are expected to work across all sites, depending on the needs of the service.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a motivated team and independently on initiatives.
  • Cover 24‑hour service shifts, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (current NMC/HCPC registration).
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Teaching course or qualification.
  • Understanding of professional nursing issues.

Experience

  • Experience at Band 5 in surgery or theatres.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and audit.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to practice as a competent practitioner.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors.
  • Confidentiality awareness.
  • Time‑management skills.
  • Leadership development ability.
  • Special interest or area of special interest.

Contract Details

Band 5 | Salary £31,049 to £37,796 per annum | Permanent | Full‑time or Part‑time | Working pattern: 24‑hour service coverage across all sites.
