Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated midwife to join our friendly maternity service at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The role requires a minimum of three years of NHS band 6 midwife experience with sustained intrapartum exposure, a genuine passion for safety and quality, and leadership qualities.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the maternity unit as shift coordinator, and as the most senior midwife during weekends and nights.
- Oversee the designated community team caseload, focusing on safeguarding concerns for adults and children.
- Provide line management for a small team of midwives.
- Lead senior on‑call cover for home births and the unit.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Registered midwife.
- Degree and postgraduate diploma level qualifications or equivalent.
- Evidence of CPD in clinical leadership and management.
- Current UK professional registration.
- At least two years of practice as a UK midwife.
Desirable
- Qualified as a non‑medical prescriber.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team motivation.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage time and maintain situational awareness.
- Experience with clinical governance and system development.
