An outpatient administrator is sought to join the Cardiology team at Dorset County Hospital. This is a 37.5 hour per week role based in the Cardiology Department, South Wing. The post requires a professional, confident, keen and friendly approach with excellent communication skills to interact with the MDT, consultants, nurses, secretaries, patients and external agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a range of general administrative duties for the department including checking patients in for their appointments; booking outpatient diagnostic appointments; answering telephone and email queries; and handling and distributing incoming post.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the Reception Desk.
  • Act on own initiative and be responsible for own actions; make decisions within the role and seek advice from MDT members as required.
  • Work flexibly with other team members to ensure the best possible patient care.

Person Specification:

  • Essential Education, Qualifications: experience of dealing with telephone enquiries; understanding of confidentiality.
  • Skills: competent keyboard skills; excellent communication skills; ability to work without supervision; ability to work as part of a team.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in a healthcare environment; previous computer experience in a Windows environment.
