Job Summary

Are you a Dental Nurse looking for an interesting role in orthodontics?

We have a great opportunity for a dental nurse to join our busy and friendly team. This position is available part time, 3 days per week; Monday, Wednesday & Thursday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Clinical staff in all aspect of orthodontic treatment and dental surgery management
  • Prepare clinical areas including instrument care and management, cross infection control, managing equipment and materials as required.
  • Support the team in providing high quality patient focussed care

You Have

  • Full GDC registration
  • Hold a Certificate of Dental Nursing or equivalent NVQ
  • Experience of dental nursing preferably in a hospital setting

Job Description

Job responsibilities

  • Assisting Orthodontic Department Clinical staff in all relevant aspects of Orthodontic treatment, including 4 handed assistance in clinical procedures.
  • Decontamination of instruments burs/bands prior to packing and sending to CSU
  • Aid in taking patient records including photography, height recording and other duties as required.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to patients concerning Orthodontic treatment and maintenance of Orthodontic appliances.
  • Taking phone calls from patients to provide advice and reassurance as appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Essential: Previous experience working either in Practice / Community / Hospital
  • Essential: Hold a Certificate of Dental Nursing or equivalent NVQ
  • Essential: Full Registration with GDC
  • Essential: Ability to work in a team
  • Essential: Good organisational ability
  • Essential: Good communication skills
  • Essential: Good understanding of cross infection control within the surgery
  • Essential: Knowledge of confidentiality in the work place
