We are seeking an enthusiastic, efficient, and motivated Cardiac Physiologist to join our busy cardiology department at Band 5 level. This position offers further training for progression to band 6 and band 7 levels once accreditation is achieved with either The British Society of Echocardiography or The British Heart Rhythm Society.
Candidates must have, or be in their third year of, the BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) Degree, or an equivalent qualification.

As a newly qualified Cardiac Physiologist, you will participate in delivering specialist clinical services and providing high standards of patient care. You will rotate through various sections of the cardiac department to develop and maintain specialist knowledge and apply this in practice. You will have opportunities to enhance your theoretical and practical skills through training and the expertise of our highly specialized cardiac physiologists in diagnostic and therapeutic investigations. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and delivery of education and training within the department.
The Main Duties
- Providing a clinical technical service, including routine ECG, exercise tolerance testing (supervised by a doctor or physiologist), 24-hour ambulatory monitoring, assisting in the Cardiac Catheter Lab during diagnostic angiography and interventional procedures, and assisting with cardiac device implant and follow-up clinics.
- Training towards basic echocardiography scanning skills to accreditation levels.
- Handling procedures on a range of patients, sometimes in distressing or emotional circumstances, with exposure to body odours, fluids, and secretions.
- Analyzing and assessing test results against acceptability criteria and working within professional policies and protocols.
