Job Summary

Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker? The Dorchester Psychiatric Liaison service is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Liaison Psychiatry Practitioner to join their supportive team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients referred from sources including the Emergency Department and hospital wards with mental health problems, self‑harm, psychiatric crisis, psychosomatic disorders, and psychological issues related to physical disorders.
  • Perform risk assessment and demonstrate clear understanding of relevant legislation, policies and guidance.
  • Work autonomously, applying crisis management and assessment skills.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, acute colleagues, other mental health services and external agencies.
  • Participate in team meetings, case presentations, reflective practice and receive regular supervision.
  • Engage in continued development through courses and appraisal processes.
  • Work a full‑time schedule, with flexibility for part‑time arrangements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker.
  • Current registration and competency in clinical practice.
  • Strong risk assessment, crisis management and assessment experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires an Enhanced/Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (covered by the Trust).
  • Suitability to work 24/7, including weekends, nights and public holidays.
  • Not eligible for current Skilled Worker sponsorship.

Shift Patterns

  • Early – 07:30 to 15:30
  • Late – 12:30 to 20:30
  • Long day – 07:30 to 20:30
  • Nights – 20:00 to 08:00
