An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Healthcare Support Worker with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Outpatient nursing team at Dorset County Hospital, supporting several different specialities such as Oncology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics and Urology.
Outpatients is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment which requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own skills. If you are a dynamic individual who enjoys a challenge and would like to join a team who are passionate about providing high quality care to their patients, then we want to hear from you.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to giving high quality nursing care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
- You will consistently ensure that a patient’s privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is maintained, at all times, as well as the care given being patient centred.
- You need to have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- We require individuals who are forward thinking, well organised and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.
- The successful candidate may be required to rotate through the other Outpatients areas, main DCH site, Weymouth Hospital and South Walks House to support during times of annual leave and sickness.
- Recent Outpatient experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- In order to meet the needs of the service, the working pattern is flexible. In the future this may include weekend working.

Person Specification:
- Essential: English Functional skills level 1/ GCSE D-G, Maths Functional skills level 1/ GCSE D-G, Ability and willingness to undertake training necessary for the post.
- Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Health Care or related field, Completion of the Care Certificate.
- Skills & Abilities: Evidence of good communication skills, Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality, Ability to work as part of a team, Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors.
