Junior Sister/Charge Nurse – Emergency Department
Position Summary – Band 6 fixed‑term (6 months) vacancy for an experienced Registered Nurse with Emergency Department or Emergency medicine experience. Minimum of 4 years post‑registration, including at least 2 years in ED. Requires strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, challenging environment.
Responsibilities
• Join a motivated team of Band 7 and Band 6 staff and work as part of a team while independently managing the department on a daily basis.
• Manage teams of dedicated Registered staff and Healthcare Assistants.
• Develop personal practice and gain further experience in all aspects of emergency care and advanced practice, supported by the department’s Clinical Practice Educators.

- Evidence of ability to practise as a proficient practitioner
- Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors
- Evidence of ability to manage time effectively
- Evidence of ability to develop leadership skills
- Registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional
- Evidence of CPD
- Teaching Qualification
- ALS/ATLS/APLS or equivalent
- Significant post‑registration experience ≥4 years with ≥2 years ED experience in an acute hospital setting
- Understanding of professional nursing issues
- Desirable
- Understanding of clinical governance and ability to assist in establishing systems
- Evidence of an area of special interest
- Evidence of clinical audit
- Evidence of critical appraisal skills
- Working towards/completed relevant speciality qualification
