This post offers great opportunities with our Team of Clinical Psychologists. We are supportive and skilled in working with Adults with Learning Disabilities. As CPs in this specialty, we feel we have the best of all worlds as our work is so diverse, including a whole range of MH issues, dementia, neuropsychology, challenging behaviour, capacity, bereavement, trauma, Autism, etc. We are free to use a range of inventive adaptations to meet communication and cognitive needs, and we are trained in a range of therapies including CAT, EMDR, ACT and CBT. We are involved in a range of exciting clinical and research initiatives and are closely affiliated with the Doctoral Clinical Psychology programmes at Exeter and Southampton.

We work with a wider MDT, meaning that skills are shared and support is always available through close working with colleagues from both Health and Social Care. As a Team, we provide excellent clinical supervision, support, and opportunities to develop skills and professional development. We have a brilliant record of providing additional training opportunities to our clinical psychologists in a range of therapies as well as any specialist areas of interest. We provide a comprehensive and supported Preceptorship Programme from the Band 7 to Band 8a for this role. This is a great opportunity to consolidate and develop core skills learned during clinical training, under the supervision of highly skilled and experienced clinical psychologists.

The role is very diverse and allows opportunities to develop your own individual therapy skills, work on service development, and continue your professional development. Work with a range of skilled professionals who are passionate about working with adults with learning disabilities. Clinical work covers a broad range of problems with which patients may present, including skilled and often complex assessment, capacity assessments, and diagnostic assessments. Group work is possible and can be done with colleagues from within the CTLD as well as with colleagues in other services. Consultation and supervision of other professionals from within the Psychology Team, and the wider MDT, is a regular part of the role.

This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week primarily covering Bridport and Dorchester with flexible input into other Community Learning Disability Teams in Dorset that suit the applicant and service needs. We would also consider those who would like to consider a Job Share opportunity.

At Dorset HealthCare we are on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services.
