Job Summary

Are you a specialty doctor looking to join our rehabilitation services? We are looking for a part‑time Specialty Doctor to work within the Pan‑Dorset Mental Health Complex Care Service, providing comprehensive community and inpatient based services to patients. The rehab service supports people who have chronic and disabling mental health problems that may be treatment‑resistant and who have previously spent long periods in hospital. As a specialty doctor you will cover the CRT and inpatient rehab services in the East of Dorset (BCP) locality.

You will assist in the assessment of new patients, contribute to ongoing management, and review when it is appropriate for patients to be transferred back to the general adult’s team. You will ensure that patients receive appropriate clinical assessments and that there is appropriate medical input into care planning.

The Trust welcomes all applications, including those seeking flexible working for a positive work‑life balance. For any questions and to discuss the role, please contact Dr Cressida Manning – Lead Consultant Psychiatrist for Specialist Services; or Dr Tamsin Peachey, Consultant Psychiatrist – Rehab Service.

Main Duties (Clinical)

  • Prepare reports for mental health review tribunals and managers’ hearings and give evidence.
  • Provide medical treatment within a model of multi‑disciplinary care, liaising with other clinician teams within and outside the trust and with general practitioners and medical specialists regarding the physical health of patients.
  • Maintain Section 12 approval, contribute to and attend the trust journal clubs, and multidisciplinary audit meetings.
