The Integrated Community Vaccination Service is looking for a team player and experienced Nurse to deliver the school age vaccination programme alongside the Covid vaccination delivery to housebound patients and care homes. Vaccinations are the safest and most effective way of protecting individuals and communities from vaccine preventable diseases. The CVS team is part of the Integrated Vaccination Service and provides all school age children in Dorset their immunisations as per the UK Health Security Agency schedule, alongside providing Covid vaccines to the housebound and care home residents of Dorset. The post holder will support the management of a team of nurses and administrators, ensuring clinics and sessions are staffed appropriately and safely. The role requires daily travel across Dorset with the base to be confirmed (TBC).

The post is full time (37.5 hours) year round, with working hours of 8–4, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday community clinics. The post holder will be required to work flexibly across the county to meet the needs of the service.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer vaccines in schools, at community clinics, in care homes and in patient homes.
  • Collect vaccines and equipment from vaccine bases.
  • Drive the service van.
  • Triage of consent forms.
  • Provide expert knowledge to service users.
  • Support community engagement.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Essential: Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level.
  • Essential: Membership of the relevant Professional Body.
  • Essential: At least 2 years post qualifying experience.
  • Desirable: Learning and assessing in practice qualification.
  • Essential: Knowledge of immunisations and vaccination programmes (Job Specific Experience).
  • Essential: Ability to use IT systems.
  • Essential: Access to own vehicle and ability to drive trust van as required by the service (Business Travel).
  • Personal qualities/attributes: Able to communicate effectively at all levels, use of initiative, excellent timekeeping, ability to understand and adapt to trust policies, and flexibility to meet service needs.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance required. The post is subject to DBS in line with policy; the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
