Dorset Healthcare, in collaboration with Dementia UK, is looking to recruit a registered nurse (RN, RNMH, RNLD) to join the Purbeck Admiral Nurse service based in Wareham, Dorset.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with and support people with dementia and their families with complex needs. Under the supervision of a Band 7 Admiral Nurse, you will use your expert knowledge and skills to deliver therapeutic interventions that help prevent crises, support people to be cared for at home as long as possible, and offer practical and emotional support to families from diagnosis to post-bereavement. You will hold a clinical caseload and support best practice by role modelling excellent dementia care across the Purbeck locality.
This role is 30 hours per week, fixed term for 24 months. A secondment opportunity is available; please ensure you have your line manager\’s permission before applying.
Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants subscribing to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
Applicants requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are not eligible to apply.
Key responsibilities include providing high-quality, innovative clinical practice, proactive clinical decision-making based on advanced knowledge, and demonstrating improved patient outcomes. You will undertake comprehensive holistic assessments of patients and carers with highly complex needs, plan, implement, and evaluate care delivery, and manage barriers to effective communication with service users, carers, and professionals to develop therapeutic relationships. This includes discussing diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and referring to other teams to promote integrated working and improve outcomes.
