Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Buyer who has technical know-how and skill, as well as creative flair to ensure the strongest possible product offering at all times.

We are looking for an ambitious, flexible, passionate and business minded individual.

The ideal candidate will thrive from working in a fast-paced environment and will have extensive knowledge of our competitor’s ranges.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Supports established buyer to build a balanced, commercial, and profitable range and assists on all aspects of the day to day running of the department.
  • Building excellent relationships with the supply base and using best negotiation skills.
  • Works closely with Planning team to review department performance and develop areas for improvement.
  • Builds effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Keeps up to date with current trends, brands & competition.
  • Organises department meetings internally and externally.
  • Manages the critical path ensuring all stock is received in a timely manner.
  • Manages BA independently from Buyer and seeks to improve ways of driving department effectiveness through training, communication, and feedback.
  • Clearly communicates with team and cross- functional departments within the business.
  • Understanding of current trade, analysis and future strategy. Strong fashion eye with full understanding of the customer’s needs.
  • Pro-actively carries out comp shops and research’s trends.
  • Presents to senior management in absence of Buyer.
  • Deputises in fits in Buyer’s absence.
  • Demonstrates logical thinking and clear approach to workload.

  • What You'll Need
  • Experience at Assistant buyer level within a retail buying head office.
  • Be commercially aware with a solid understanding of the high street.
  • Can demonstrate initiative, problem solving and negotiation skills and have ability to build and develop effective relationships
  • Capability to work in a fast paced and high-pressured environment
  • Excellent commercial awareness with a strong understanding of the seasonal trends.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong time management, prioritisation, negotiation and organisational skills
